Walmart almost cost me my life (srs) Come at me Walmart.
Going to make this TLD.
So about 3 Mo ago, I had Walmart change my tires. Fast forward to lastnight I was driving to work, on a snowy back road, so I was only going about 30 mph. My car all of a sudden sinks to one side and I get out to see my front right wheel was GONE. Two mechanics "including the one fixing it" saw one of the borken studs (only one I could find, wobbling around inside of wheel) and could tell the lugnuts were over tightened and the cause of this. I'm going to have them fax the bill and cause to walmart so I can be reimbursed for this repair. ($300!) But, considering I could have DIED and caused a major highway accident, could I submit some sort of a claim for this? I also was forced to miss work. (midnight shift on a blizzard night, nobody would take me :-( ..)
SUPER TLDR
Walmart changed my tires
Over tightened lug nuts which eventually cracked off.
Wheel fell off, forced to miss work and repair ($300)
I want to submit a claim, as if I was to the highway I take, it could've been fatal and caused a major accident.
Basically it. I'm not sue happy and my family has never persisted to sue anybody. But this is ridiculous.

You do know your lugs are suppose to be re-torque after it a day or two it comes out of the shop. Most shops will torque them correctly for free. Just FYI.
As for a broken stud, did you slide into a curb? Is it a fresh break? ie "Clean metal look" to the stud. Replacing a stud is easy if you know what your doing. Best of luck.

You have a few options.
You could try to resolve this without a lawyer. To do that, you would write what happened and why and provide an estimate of the costs to you, and you would ask them to cover those costs.
Alternatively, you could call a personal injury lawyer and see if they will take the case on a contingency basis. 1/3 is normal.
