    Decline Bench Press=Man boobs?

    i have been told that doing decline bench press makes your chest have the look of "man boobs"

    is there any truth in that?

    regardlss what shape does your chest take from doing lower chest?

    Hell no, having high body gives you man boobs!

    Decline press gives your pecs great shape, and nice separation from the abdominal section. If anything, it prevents man boobs!

    Seriously, decline bench gives your lower chest more definition and good seperation from the abs as Maurice has already pointed out to you.

    There are two types of man boobs. The most common type is just excess fat, and given the way people deposit fat differently can sometimes be found in men who are otherwise rather slim. Losing body fat is the only way to get rid of them, short of liposuction.
    Gynomastia (if I've spelled that right), or bitch tits, involves actual glandular breast tissue, rather than fat. It can result from improper steroid usage but simply happens in some men. Surgery is the only treatment.

    i found that since i started doin decline bench my chest has grown like it never had before and would recomend this to anyone. I know however many people who have a fat ass and man boobs who do both declines and squats but i would reckon this was from something else...

    Okay, waitaminnit...I'm thinking this through, and trying to understand the basis of the claim...I guess someone has trie dto suggest that decline bench press will cause "man boobs" by enhancing the growth of the lower portion of the pecs, causing a weightier size at the bottom than at the top.

    But as I envision declines, they are used because they help develop the UPPER pecs, because they push upward from below the "push point" when raising the bar. Declines develop the upper pecs, not lower, and thus would do the OPPOSITE of causing "man boob" formation.

    You don't get "man-boobs" unless you are already fat. Also, the lower portion of the pec is a larger muscle than the upper part so obviously it's going to look slightly larger at the bottom.

    The only difference between decline and flat is that some of the stress is shifted from the upper pec/anterior delts to the lower pec/traps.

    well from my personal experience decline doesnt give you man boobs per say but the problem is that alot of people put alot of emphasis on the lower portion of the chest and it outgrows the middle and upper chest and that gives the illusion of a boob. i do declines every other week if that. my main focus is always upper chest because in my opinion that is what makes your chest look that much bigger. so focus on inclines and flats and every so often throw in the decline for fun.

    Manboobs are primarily excess body fat.

    He lost tons of mass in a really short time, because he had to get of the tech due to stricter testing. That's probably why his physique looks that weird. Probably his skin quite lose there.

    My experience has been if you rely on one grip or position in a lift too much, it will create muscular imbalances. I suppose that's where the manboob belief comes from, but I believe that they are largely a result of a person's bodyfat. If I looked in the mirror and thought I had this problem, I would lay off of decline and perhaps flat bench too, and focus more on incline bench - until it catches up to the lower pec development.

    After that, I would start using more positions again. I definitely have my favorite exercises that i'd love to just stick to and keep workouts short and simple, but the reality is I need to use various others to hit my body from every angle and obtain a more balanced physique in the long run. Currently i'm without means to do decline bench, so I use chest dips instead. I hope to try them out soon when I have the equipment required, but to be honest they kind of freak me out cause i'm always thinking i'll fall off and break my neck.
