Your body will eventually digest all protein in most cases ( I mean if you use some ridiculous example of trying to eat 500g pro at once, you may end up puking or excreting some).

That said, paying attention to the total amount of protein you need (while, preferable getting some around your workout) is far more important.

Yeah your body can digest a lot more than ±40 grams of protein per meal but your muscles just won't be able to use it.
