not unexpected, though i've been traveling there for 11 years w/ no issues. but yeah likely stolen from the locker room when I was changing or in the storage closet after we checked out of the hotel. what can you do? not much. but wasn't an issue of safety. more/less an issue with storage of valuables
it's quite different skiing in South America. And unfortunately a lot more expensive. used to be quite the bargain, but now it's much more costly.
yep, sure is.
finally lifted today at the hotel gym after a nice 12 day or so layoff. got some fun stuff planned this week for workouts, trying to keep things fresh when there is minimal access to quality stuff.
Sunday Sept ??? from Brazil
finished skiing for fun, now have a week of work in Brazil. hot as hell here, enjoying the air conditioning, ha!
lifted at hotel gym today. while the weights were in KG, a good portion was machine based with lack of free weight access so numbers really don't compare well. but I did manage to max out a few of the machines for high reps
Smith Delt Press
5 sets working up to 200lbs
Smith Bench Press
5 sets working up to 220lbs (was most plates they had- funny looking at all the 10kg and 5kg plates stacked up!)
Smith CBGP
3 sets x 8
Lat Pulldowns
Medium grip: 4 sets x 5-8
UH Grip: 4 sets x 5-8
Vbar grip: 3 sets x 5-8
Some sort of plate loaded curl machine
3 sets
DB standing Overhead press
7 sets up the rack, highest weight set was 26kg x 5 (63lbs?)
felt good, less shoulder issues w/ standing presses
for the record I still HATE smith machines
tomorrow~ playground workout

I assume you were able get most of your fare covered by the employer = smart move to combine work and pleasure
Nice mix of upper body work and you were lucky at least to have the smith and the machines and not a multi-gym --- better off sitting in a bar and getting plastered than using one of those in most hotels
Playground workout ? BW stuff in the park?Last edited by fittofattofit; 09-10-2012 at 07:37 PM.

haha yeah i'll post a pic tmrw. they got all these cool little playground setups on the beaches in Rio specfically designed for workouts. not much but it works. they are pretty popular too, lots of jacked up mofos working out on them all the time
yeah pretty slammed but I'll get back with you later this week. my life is kind of chaotic right now, lots of stuff going on. more on that later.
f8ck the smith machine, HATE IT. but it was the only bench type thing they had. should have just stuck with the 40kg DBs instead (I'll do that tomorrow). but it is a good hotel gym overall, got some good options for sure. goal is to get in some medium weight workouts and focus on MMC this week. That way when I'm home next week I can crank back up to normal intensity!
trying. tough cause not much free time and always exhausted by schedule. i've got some decent brazil pics but no creeper photos, haha. will try an post some tomorrow.
here's a few relaxed shots from the pool at Portillo

You got a tan and looking lean; you're lying down by the pool; sun blazing and the water looks inviting but................... there's snow and mountains surrounding! If it wasn't for the background, you'd swear you were at a resort hotel soaking up the sun in Rio. Fuarcking awesome pics Tim!

Good stuff on gyming hard on your holiday bro! Thats where a lot of people give up. Even I did it once for 2-3 weeks, lost ~10kgs on my bench press 1 rep..
You would think. But then he is tanning on a mountain covered in snow... wouldn't be surprised if he had to crack a thin layer of ice before getting in, haha. It must be heated.my workout journal - powerlifter

bah. of course you'd comment on that, lmao. it was actually pretty warm ~ 25C
besides at 12,000 feet, the sun is so strong that it feels a lot warmer than it actually is
haha, thanks.
yeah I think the Austrians were there training
haha, love both places
nice mate.
haha. yep, def heated! can't wait to get back to lifting regular this week.
inviting yes but the stolen chit sucked. left me w/ a poor taste in the mouth from Portillo
yep and yep
Update
So been traveling for work the past 10 days so haven't been able to update/log/etc... Will get back to normal starting on Monday
Did manage 2 relatively quick workouts on the road, but kept weights and volume light. Didn't log them all but a couple things off memory:
Workout 1
Standing DB Delt press ss w/ DB Curls
(note: weights in KG*)
16x10 - 16x10
18x10 - 18x10

26x5 - 26x5
28x5 - 28x5
30x4 - 30x4
Incline Db Presses
(in KG*)
30x15
30x15
30x15
More random crap
Workout 2
Chins/Pullups (bw)
15
15
15
10
8
8
8
7
BB Bench Press
100kg x 10
100kg x 10
100kg x10
More pullups
More chin ups
Physio.
More random crap
Done
pretty good hotel gym with lots of free weights and quality machines. unfortunately wasn't feeling it- congested and coughing so kept it short and lowered intensity.
Will catch up on journals soon. On my way home now, got a long night/day of travel and picked up a nagging cough FTMFL. annoying

Looks like the shoulders are doing OK though --- strong volume on the DB pressing and nice supersetting with the DB curls
BRB your DB curling with one hand what I'm doing with EZ bar
Strong volume on the incline DBs and huge reppage on those chins as well
It all looks like a good challenge to the shoulders and maybe the extended time away will have helped
I see your weight's up to 190 and still looking lean in the pool pics, so you're doing something right
BTW, has your job/location situation been finalised?
If not, it must be frustrating to still be travelling and have that uncertainty in the back of your mind!"Better to wear out than rust out!"

Awesome workouts!
Those pics at Portillo are some of the coolest I have ever seen. It's pretty amazing how at such a high altitude, it can be so warm while there's still snow on the ground.*Professional comic book geek* *semi-pro cartoon collector* *full time nerd*

pretty much finalized and moving. more on that later. shoulder has been good, but I need to get back to some consistent physio. been slacking and can feel the difference.
thanks billy! yeah at 12000 feet you're just that much closer to the sun. I'll post a few more pictures today.
Can't wait to get back to regular lifting. Hoping to get into the gym tomorrow but if not, Monday for sure!!! probably lost some strength for taking much of the past 3 weeks off, but not too worried, it'll come back quickly

haha just giving you chit. and lifting starts again tomorow
probably not doing any dips. used to be a favourite but just doesn't feel good on the shoulder. every once and a while you'll see dips but unlikely to become a focus unless teh shoulder really starts liking them.

Well, unfortunately I had my camera stolen so I didn't get the footage I was really hoping to get. Primarily just from day one of the trip - and included some pics

They looked like great runs in Portillo, even though the snow looked a bit crusty and there were some nasty looking rocks in there.
That was some serious climbing to do in Argentina and some even more serious lines to take. Bummer about the camera cos there would have been some awesome footage on those drops --- the Banana Couloir looked deadly. Going by the vid and pics it looks like good sunny weather the whole time even if the snow was wearing, and you gotta love those Argentinian BBQs
Mirin' the choice of music BTW!Last edited by fittofattofit; 09-16-2012 at 10:25 PM.

Beastly session bro. That's a cardio session in itself too. Your endurance is fukin nuts!
"Yep, that's 10 sets of 225+ and close to 100 pullups/chins the day after hitting heavy lat supersets." Jesus H Christ. Most I ever did with supersetting pullups was 50 in a sesh when I was running 5/3/1. But close to 100 reps? That's incredible. And I like staying with the more moderate weight on bench and just hammering out volume like that, that'll get you pumped as hell.
And matching all those superset #s on weights following that with the curls/skulls, with NO REST? Your conditioning is simply mind blowing.Awesome pics. Great size. Look thick. Solid. Tight. Keep us all posted on your continued progress with any new progress pics or vid clips. Show us what you got man. Wanna see how freakin' huge, solid, thick and tight you can get.
