    Jump Rope?

I've heard so many things about jumping rope being a great form of cardio. Then again I've heard from others it's not that effective. Personally, I am not a fan of cardio exercise, and I've tried them all. For the past 2 weeks I've been jumping rope, and it's the most amazing feeling ever!! I get such a great workout (atleast it feels like it) from it, it's FUN! And I workout my arms, shoulders, butt, legs, everything! I even feel it in my abs sometimes the next day.

I have never enjoyed a cardio workout so much in my life. So I was wondering with all the info out there on jumping rope, what do you think? Is it effective? Will it really help me like running or an elliptical machine would?

    Thanks guys

Jump rope is great cardio and you don't need to do much of it. It is a high calorie burner, but it also improves coordination and works the whole body. I'm not sure where you have heard that it is ineffective, but I'd stop following those sources.

Effective? Sure. Does it not get your heart pumping and wear you out? If your goal is simply a great cardio workout, then I see no reason for calling it ineffective. I know that just 5min of jumping rope is enough to kick my butt!

ITA and now I don't feel so bad....the other day I thought I'd do some jump rope as a cool down after my workout. I set a timer for 2 minutes(thinking 2 minutes would be nothing)....WRONGGGGG! I was dying long before it went off! I kept thinking, "that damn thing is gonna beep ANY second" and yet it didn't. I actually ended up stopping before it was over cuz I was sure I had missed the timer....I hadn't.
