Buying first 28ga Judge, will be full retard
Only pic I could find. Inb4 pic too small. Just announced at Shot Show.
Cant wait for the new PDX-1 defense disks in 28GA.
Taurus Introduces the Raging Judge in New Caliber
MIAMI – Personal protection, home defense and sport shooting are easy work for the latest Taurus® Raging Judge that fires the larger, more powerful 28-gauge shotshell. The first Judge of its kind is ready to take on whatever comes your way. Whatever “it” happens to be.
The Taurus Raging Judge in 28 gauge comes equipped with the distinctive “Raging Bull” cushioned insert grip for reduced felt recoil and its strong, ordnance grade steel frame is built to take everything the revolver dishes out. Additional features include a single-action/double-action trigger and highly visible fiber optic front sight.
Available in blued or matte stainless finish with a 6.5 inch barrel, the Raging Judge in 28 gauge has overall length 13.75 inches and weighs 67 ounces. Like all Taurus handguns, the unique onboard Taurus Security System® allows users to securely lock the gun using an inconspicuous key-lock.

Also, S&W is jumping in. Lulz.

What's the hate on the Judge for? (srs) Seems like a decent gun for snake charming and small-medium predator protection.

The Judge has sort of become a meme on this board. Back when the O/R was connected to the regular misc we would get a lot of threads along the lines of "OMG guize dis' here has shotgun stopping powa' but its a MAGNUM" and "Best defense gun ever!!?!?!"
Not a bad snake gun, I agree. They are also a lot of fun to shoot clays with. Not a good SD platform IMO, but a lot of people seem to like them.
LOL'd hard at S&W calling theirs the "Governor". Its a six shot and will fire .45 ACP (with moon clips).

nothing wrong with it for the purposes that you outlined.
when people start talking about home and personal defense though against two legged adversaries though... I don't see the point when there are much better platforms available. like you said though, i wouldn't mind having one for snakes

Because people carry it actually thinking it can administer deadly force like a normal handgun. The .410 shotgun shell feature is what sells the gun because people buy it thinking oh a scatter shot in a pistol gurantees a hit when i fire upon some crim, then they hit them and the shot bounces off and you realize how worthless it is.
In short, the .410 is not a self defense round and youre better off just buying a standard revlover chambered in long colt if you so desire to run that round.

Almost tempted to start it and lol at all the ridiculous responses.
I wish they would hurry up and make a 20ga revolver already..even if it's completely unpractical it'd be a pretty cool thing to have.

The barrel is too short for the 410 to develop enough power to penetrate for SD.

Harry Whittington was shot by Dick Cheney with a 28 gauge rifle. That right there should show everybody that 28 gauge is pretty underpowered. Obviously they were using birdshot, where larger pellets can be used, but I don't think buckshot exist in 28 gauge. The reason people knock the judge is not because its useless (I'm sure there are great uses for it), but its not the 'best home defense weapon ever' as some would lead you to believe.

I think the power of the OR can produce a prototype of a 12ga revolver with a 9 inch barrel.

I guess if they made it in 12 gauge, double action, with a 14" barrel and a folding stock, I might be interested...?

Granted this is made for LEA's to use with "less lethal" ammo. Im sure you could fire some low base 20ga shells though it.

A .410 rifle is more then enough to for SD. A .410 slug can have more energy then a 44 magnum.

However, there is a HUGE difference between a 26" smooth bore barrel and a puny 2.5" rifled snub nose when it comes to ballistics and pattern. In a full sized shotgun I really like the .410 for those who are too weak/frail/injured to handle a 12GA. Mossberg even makes a HD specific .410 pump for those people.
I have heard the .44 mag comparison thrown around a lot. It just simply isnt true. As much as I love the little .410, it is still only pushing a 1/5 oz slug at 1800 fps (~600 ft lbs of ME). A 44 mag will be closer to 1000. .357 mag is a much better comparison. In either case, A 250gr .45LC JHP outclasses the slug by a mile.
Edit: Anyone know how they were able to get past the .5" bore NFA restrictions? I believe it is considered a destructive device with a bore larger than .5 and such a short barrel. Not real versed in NFA stuff tho..

In the link look at HBBS 410 Uncrimped Heavy Load 375 gr Slug, Energy (ft.-lb.) 1873
More energy then a hot loaded 44 magnum.
