Started a new routine last week, and really like it. There are some new back exercises, I was not familiar with...one is a cable straight arm pull down. See video:
Can really feel it ....
Just curious what you like best for working your back.

Well other than dead-lift, for upper back I still like pull-ups the best overall for upper and mid back. Changing my grip around and I can target different areas easily.
Eat right, exercise, lift weights, get 8 hours of sleep.

I have done this type of straight arm pull down and was surprised at how wel you can hit your lats. It's kind of a concetrate on the contraction type movement rather than heavy weight movement. Keep your back straight and concentrate on pulling with your lats. Something different to mix things up with. IMO

It took me a while just to be able to lift 10 lbs...lol Agree...it's a good one.
I long for the day when I can do ONE unassisted pull up, but even with the assistance from the machine, it's great.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong...I don't feel it hits my back all that much.
Hi OS. Yeah...I was surprised. I watched the vid last week to get an idea of what it was...cuz I never heard of it, and was surprised at how well this works your back.
again...maybe i'm doing something wrong. lol (re: DL's)

Wide grip pull ups, of course!

I knew you'd say that.
me too...thankfully someone came up with an assisted pull up/tricep dip machine, right? haha I can see a glimmer of hope with doing an unassisted at some point. It's one of my fitness goals...ONE unassisted pull up. Or more.

I've been doing seated cable rows with an underhand grip lately, and I really like 'em.

Deadlifts, Pullups, Tbar rows.
those three will work your entire back."Some people are like Slinkies. They're not really good for anything but they sure bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs."

Mine too! There is this girl at the gym who does unassisted pull ups and every time I see her do them I think, "One day that will be me. Mark my words!!"
I'm close on the dips!! Actually dips and pull ups are my two favorite exercises. I could do them every day and never get tired of them.

For me it would be: Pullups, bent over BB rows, and Deads. There's not a square inch of your back that would not be worked with this combo.

2. stiff legged deadlifts.. feels great on my lower back (and hams)
3. lat pull downs.. varied grips and weight. these have always been in the top of the list since i first did them. i'm always trying to outdo my last set till one day i can do the whole stack (not even close yet..lol)
