    Does gym affect your height?

Hey, I'm 15, and I'm just unter 5'7. I know that I come from a reasonably short family, but it would really help for me to find out - does bodybuilding stunt your growth?

Every specialist that my family knows as friends all say that the muscles tighten, and impend bone growth, but every internet site says the opposite and I genuinley have no idea

I do also bear in mind that exercises like BB Squats literally compress your spine, so I try to avoid it as much as possbile, for example, I train my calves on a leg press machine.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

i was squatting heavy weight at 15 years old at 5'10, i'm 6'1.5 now

unless you are doing ridiculous amounts of weight with horrid form it will not stunt your growth
You don't need a reason to help people.

wow thanks guys, and for getting back so quickly.

In answer to calves on a leg press machine, you basically pivot your ankles on the base of the plate - just look on google

Okay thanks for that, I always thought the idea of stunted growth was redicioulous, and I don't do any weights that are obscenley heavy haha.

I think it depends on workout you do in any gym. Sometime if you have good instructor and a good trainer your height can be enhance. It depends upon on the genetic traits but still with your workout and training you can get some height.

It will never affect your height in any way whatsoever (unless you get a very serious spinal injury). Anyone who says it will is deluded.

I would neg if i could. Use the search feature or google, this has been asked a thousand times. No it will not affect your height.

And before someone says "bull**** your 5'4" I will say that this is due to the combination of genetics and being born highly premature

Lifting won't stunt your growth, however a poor diet,no sleep and bad genetics will....

Actually stimulating body, makes hormone levels up a bit and that makes you a bit bigger (might be broscience )
Also don't eat carbs before bed, that'll slow dem growing.
A back injury is what you need to be aware of.
