    how much water weight do people hold?

    i was 5'11, 300lbs and in exactly 12 days i went down to 283. any idea as to how much water my body holds? as far as what i eat, i follow a ketogenic diet. for my workouts i jog 1-1.5 miles every other day and do 40 minutes on the elliptical daily. any ideas?

    so i did 300 x .6(entire water weight)=180lbs of water weight. 180 x .15(15% of entire water weight)= 27 lbs of water weight? that about right?

    You misunderstood. Your body is like 45-70% water. At 300lbs bodyweight 135-210lbs of it is water.

    Closer to 135 pounds. Lean people are around 55% and it decreases from there (on average) as BF% increases.

    I was just trying to explain the give or take 15% since he didn't seem to get it the first go around. You are right though. Muscle is made up of more water than fat so the higher your body fat percentage the lower your body water percentage.

    Usually when people start a new diet there is an initial loss of water weight. Not so say that ALL of it is water, but I'd guess that most of it is. Especially on keto, since carbs usually cause people to retain more water weight.
