    Question Smolov Squat Cycle (13 wks)

    Thinking of trying this in the future. Had some questions:

    1) Have you followed the program to the T and what did your squat improvements look like from beginning to end?

    2) I am concerned for the rest of my body. Since this program seems to be HELL and just draining to the whole body.. how would one cope with stimulating the rest of the body during these 13 weeks?

    *** My overall interest is strictly bodybuilding, but using this program I hope to achieve much more squat strength-- in turn allowing for more growth in the future. Obviously I don't want to neglect the upper body though, which is why I ask.

    Smolov is a tad on the rediculous side for someone who isn't a powerlifter, especially the full program.

    Maybe give Smolov Jr. a try before jumping into the full program, unless you really know what you are doing. Squatting with that kind of volume 4x a week if not ready for it is a recipe for disaster.


    *Note* I have not personally done Smolov and hope I won't have to for a while, since my squat is consistently increasing without that kind of volume for the time being. There are plenty of logs of people that have done it if you run a search.

    You should probably ask this in the powerlifting section. You will get much better responses from people that actually have done it.
