    Bodyweight x 13?

I'm back on a cutting diet. Have forgotten everything about what calories I should start out eating and when I should lower that number and by how much. I think I remember multiplying your bodyweight by 13 and eat that number of calories?

X13 is probably going to be high unless you are already pretty lean.

Most poeple should start between x9-x12 depending on how lean they are.
If you are obese x9 or x10 is a good place, if you are just a little chubby x11, if you are in average shape x12. Adjust from there.

Yes, 13x bodyweight is a good measure to go by. Most people I've worked with have had great success at that level without too much hunger/frustration, and it allows for easy tapering as your weight comes down. Just weigh yourself once a week and recalculate from there.

Of course...if you're not losing weight at 13x over the course of a week or 2, definitely bring the rate down to 12x or even 11x as your body sees fit.

So start with 13x and lower it only when I stop losing weight? And when I lower it should I lower it 100 calories every week or?

Body doesnt know...x10, x11, etc.. Doesnt know ratios either. Body doesnt care about that.

Calorie need is BODYWEIGHT and ACTIVITY based. If youre looking for the most accurate way to begin your cut then read here:

No, always stick at 13x of your current weight.

So if you’re at say…180lbs, you eat 2340 calories.

Once you drop to 170 lbs, you eat 2210.

At 160, you eat 2080 and so on and so on. Just take however much you weigh on any given Sunday and multiply that by 13. That will be your caloric limit for the week.

If you find yourself not losing weight, drop the multiplier from 13 to 12 or 10 or 9. However, given your height and weight, 13 should be sufficient.

Yes, that post is great. I've found the Katch-McArdle method to be the best one for me. Of course you really have to watch the modifiers.
