On the start of my cut (Jan 1st.,) I decided to try a 7 day water fast. After reading all of the things about it, I had mixed opinions on it, but I felt like I'd try anyway. Keep in mind, I was bulking on 4k calories daily and did this water fast cold turkey... bad idea. I'll basically give you a quick review of how it felt and the benefits it gave me.
Day 1) Severe hunger pains by dinner time, had trouble sleeping.
Day 2) Less severe pains, felt a little weird and tingling sensation all over.
Day 3) All hunger pains are gone, had a lot of tingling going on and a yellow tongue (detoxing, or so I read.)
Day 4) Oh boy... this sucked. I had terrible cramps all day and the hunger pains returned, but it wasn't as bad as before. I manned up and soldiered through and made it to day 5.
Day 5) The cramps were so bad, I actually would rather have my ribs broken over the feeling I had. I had to give in... I know when to stop and I listen to my body. I knew this was because it was my first time doing it and going cold turkey from bulking so hard and fast.
The results = I went from 195 lbs to 183 in 5 days. After eating carefully, I've only gained 3 pounds of it back so far and no more, so, 9 pounds lost all together, most of it fat. I felt great after this fast - 3x more energy, my scars I had from acne had disappeared up to 50%, I had a TON more definition AND my immune system and my entire body was in much better shape than before. I'm an Meso-Endo, so in addition to everything else, it was much harder for me to do this fast, so people who are Ecto and have experience with eating little to none for long periods of time, should be able to do this much easier than I did.
Also, I did not lose any muscle. If I did, it wasn't noticeable. All of my lifts remained the same, except for my military press, which went down 5 lbs, but my shoulders are weak and I've always had problems with them, so I don't think this was the result of the fast.
Keep in mind, you're only supposed to do this once a season, for maximum health benefits, so, I plan to do this in June for about 7-10 days. I recommend this to everyone, it's very beneficial for your body, if done correctly.
