Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters
Another fairytale "reimagined". Decent enough watch, in the entertaining but $hite category. Cheesy dialogue, over styalised set pieces, predictable storyline etc, but for 90 odd minutes of escapism, it does the trick, and how can you not like a rapid fire crossbow?
Lincoln
2 1/2 hour long saga on the events leading up to the signing of the 13th ammendment and the abolition of slavery.
I can see why Daniel Day Lewis got the oscar nodd, I have no idea how "accurate" his portrayal of Lincoln was, but I think his version of him was outstanding.
A little long winded, film could have easily been 1/2 - 3/4 of an hour shorter and not missed much, but all in all, a decent enough watch.

Not sure if it's in here, but Safe Harbor is a reasonable movie that a guy can agree to watch with his gal. The end is kinda cheesy, but the movie does a good job getting you hooked into the characters and tho the plot is hackneyed at this point, it does pull you in. The female lead is hot as hell too btw.

I felt the same. I stopped watching it within the first 15 mins.
Jack The Giant Slayer
A different take on Jack & the Beanstalk with a colony of giants looking to take over the world. The acting was good and I felt the CGI-use was impressive. There also wasn't much by way of fillers in the movie however I do think the final battle could have been a bit longer. Overall it was a fun movie and can be watched again-and-again (granted this could just be my kids and I).

I saw V/H/S 2. I don't know how to work the spoiler box here (if there is one), so here's my review on the SD:
TL;DR - Don't waste your money. This universe is an uncaring and amoral place. It owes you nothing and you owe it nothing. If you can wrest happiness from it, at any point, then cherish it. Revel in that happiness.

Teddy Bear
Watched it last night on netflix.
It's about a 38 y/o bodybuilder who is single and lives with his mom. He doesn't have much luck with dating, so he goes to Thailand to find a wife. HOLY **** THIS BETTER NOT BECOME MY LIFE!!!!!
Also, I'm sure this guy is EXACTLY like some of the guys in the o35 section.
Overall it's a good movie. Not a lot going on, but you can really identify with the main character and he is developed well. Some good bromance flexing going too lol.Transformation Log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=170068283&page=1

Snitch was decent but a bit overly long and story a bit convoluted. Hansel and Gretel was good, sure it's cheesy but that's to be expected. The troll steals the show for sure in this movie.

Rented Broken City with Russel Crowe and Mark Wahlberg and also picked up the last installment of the Twilight series. Have watched all the others even though most of em sucked, especially the one before this. Gotta see it thru to the end now, sorta like a train wreck, I can't look away

Maybe you can watch This is It! with Mikie when you meet up in Vegas. Either before or after you bitch slap him...maybe even during.

Hansel & Gretel
Random horror flick on netflix.
Horror remake of the classic tale, more to the original tale than the witch hunters version above, some gory scenes even if a little budgety,My journal http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=150040863

Taking the girls to see the new Superman today. I got free tickets because the last time we were at the theater there was work being done on the roof and you could hear it throughout the movie and I complained. I'm glad too because I was in sticker shock the whole movie because I forgot there is no matinee on Fridays.

Hope Man of Steel is good. Waiting on that to come to Japan. Ticket prices here for adults are about $20 per adult and half that for kids. Add in popcorn and drinks, and you're looking at around seventy dollars just for a two-hour film. Still, if it's good, I'm willing to pay.

Broken City starring crowe and Wahlberg, in simple terms it sucked. Long and drawn out with no basis on half of what happened. Plot was all over the place and at times made zero sense. Movie finished and there was no sense of anything beyond "that's it?"

Hmmm....I actually liked it. We usually agree on almost all the flicks we both see, so I'm wondering if you might have watched it in an "off" mood (happens to me often enough). I thought it was well written and well played, as well as complex enough to make it interesting and not as predictable as many flicks these days.
My kids will be here any minute and they're up for watching Jurrasic Park...3D. Yep, still loving today's 3D movies. Yeah, we all know how it starts and ends, but I'm looking forward to seeing it in 3D this afternoon .

I was disappoint in The Hunger Games. To me, it was a mashup of Lord of the Flies and Battle Royale (the Japanese kill-flick). Acting was good, but it was just a dystopian rehash of old ideas which had been done better in the flicks mentioned. JMO...

I read the books and they are very readable but whilst the author says she never saw Battle Royale, I find that hard to believe (I love that movie - I watched it again recently. Avoid the sequel though, it's crap). I haven't seen the HG movies yet - waiting for the first one to come on Sky Movies (it's been on the pay per view channel already but I am too cheap to pay extra for it, heh).

Yeah, agreed. I think a lot of authors--at least subconsciously--file away bits and pieces of flicks/books they've seen/read and the cleverer ones work those bits and pieces into their own novels. Is it unoriginal? Yes. Is it clever? Depends on how it's handled. Is it ethical? No, IMO not really, but if it ain't plagiarism, then no court in the world will see it as such."Don't call me Miss Kitty. Just...don't."--Catnip. Check out the Catnip Trilogy on Amazon.com
