wow, Is 40 actual pounds of body fat all fat?

I lost 40 pounds of fat, i just realized that's pretty heavy weight. Is loosing 40 pounds of weight really all fat or is there other stuff that make it total 40 pounds of body weight? (40 pounds of body weight is a lot, I can imagine 100 or 200 pounds.)

Fat and some water associated with it. Google "Picture of 1lb of fat" - you will see what you are dealing with...

    Good luck, keep pushing.

ALEX: over the last 2 years, I have also shed 40 pounds....my arm measurements are identical at the lower weight...I will assume, that it was ( horrors ) mostly adiposity and water associated with it.....

when you lose that much weight in a relatively short frame of time, unfortunately, you will ALWAYS lose some lean weight also.....

Ive lost 80 and have gone from a tight 40 inch waist down to a 30. Yup, lots of fat and water with some muscle. If at a calorie deficit your body will scavange some protein for energy but weight training and eating enough protein will help curb it.

    Good job.

I've lost 40 pounds of fat and my muscle dimensions went up slightly. I eat fairly clean, keep protien levels high, and work out regularly though.

I went from wearing size 40 waist pants to size 34 pants in that timeframe also and lost that big gut.

My body fat percentage went from 31% to 13% also...

White fatty tissue is 60-85% fat and about 2-3% protein. The rest is made up of water.

Obese people have more water in their fat.

WOW...nice job man! I too have lost about 40 lbs in 6months and 70lbs total in the last 2 years. I have noticed a quicker drop since switching to a CKD and I have read that you will loose more water weight when on this diet. So I would have to say that the type of diet youre on would factor in how much water weight is involved as well.

As someone who has a lot of weight to lose I wasn't really excited about the first 14 or so pounds I dropped. Then I went to the supermarket and while walking down the dog food aisle I picked up a 14 lb bag of dog food. It put it in a new perspective for me.
