I'm at a good point at my cut right now that I want to start using creatine as I'm lifting more.
I'm at 165 today and have been stable for the last week.
I'm anticipating that I might gain 2 lbs after going on creatine.
Thoughts?

I just came off an 8-10 week cycle of creatine, as it exited my system I lost about 5-6lbs of intramuscular water weight. It's difficult to tell how much I gained as I was on an active cut at the time. I never saw my weight go frankly up, but about that time I did see the numbers I was losing on the scale slow waaaay down despite still seeing good visual results week to week, month to month.
Some people see actual strength (as in raw lifting power) gains on creatine. I personally did not. What I did see was fatigue tolerance. It didn't help me move more total weight per rep really ... but it did help me move the same amount of weight for more total repetitions and guarded against exhaustion. I plan on running another 8-12 week cycle here in a week or 2. I know some people stay on it and never cycle on/off, but I've heard rumors that there are consequences to that. I haven't gone out of my way to look at the literature on the subject though, so I'll keep quiet and let someone who knows what they're talking about do the talking.
Everyone reacts a bit differently to it. Some swear by it. Some think it's worthless.

i'd bet that if you'd been eating in a surplus, you would have seen some raw strength gains as well. but then, to know how much was due to creatine would be pretty impossible to tell.
and yea there are definitely differing schools of thought on many aspects of creatine.
the bolded is pretty much the moral of the story. there's really not any significant adverse side effects, so there's not much to risk in trying it.

This is what it does to me too...my 6 rep max becomes my 8-10 rep max, but generally little impact at 1rm.
I gain/lose around 4-5lbs from loading/stopping creatine. But I don't eat red meat, so I probably don't get much through diet. If you do eat lots o' mammal, you might not see too much of a swing in weight as you may be near saturated already.
While the creatine causing cramping issue seems to be debunked from what I've read, the first few times I loaded I'd get occasional goddawful charlie horses in my abs. Maybe I just wasn't getting enough water at the time, it wouldn't suprise me.
As far as sups go, it's cheap and it seems to actually work, and it's IMO worth a shot.
