    Hey every1! Please tell my friend that pre bed carbs wont turn to fat! Hes stubborn;)

    After all my countless jibber jabber to him, he refuses to accept that carbs before bed will not convert into fat. Even though he could not refute one single thing I said!

    SO, could yall just kinda come in here and tell him that hes wrong=)?


    (yes I know the exception to the rule of excess cals, but regardless he doesnt accept anything I say)

    Not like he would understand this, but the process of converting carbohydrates to fat - de novo lipogenesis - is not a significant fate of carbohydrates ever under normal dietary conditions.

    I probably eat more carbs after 6pm than your friend eats all day. Including over 100gm, mainly fruit and grape juice, around 10:30pm which is my bedtime.

    I think most people think your metabolism, like, completely shuts down when you sleep. But your body metabolism will continue to process whatever you had for your last meal..

    What determines whether you'll get fatter or leaner is fat synthesis minus fat oxidation. Those are the 2 sides to the equation, and it is determined by calories in vs. calories out.

    You're burning fat all day. If your late night carbs put you over your caloric maintenance, you'll gain weight. If they don't, then you've burned more over the course of the day than will get stored overnight...so you won't get any fatter.

    This is a beauty response. Your friend is sort of correct, if you eat a ton of carbs or any other macronutrient before bed, there is a good chance that it will turn into fat. But if he is at a caloric deficit at the end of the day he would have been burning fat all day and the bit of fat that he gains during sleep will not matter because at the end of the day he will have a net loss of fat.

    So yes he is correct that those "carbs" will likely turn to fat but if he is still at a caloric deficit he will continue to become leaner.

    well obv, and I told him that along with other similair things in terms of the at. of cals but even then he believes that even just 1 carb before bed will be converted to fat lol


    this argument happened this afternoon and he didnt have 1 single rebuttal to my logic, so I told him he can gather his "information" up and provide it for me tonight and he couldnt do it so he just says hes right lol..

    Tell him he's confusing "instantaneous fat synthesis" with 24-hour fat balance, or "net fat gain." Not the same thing.

    We are synthesizing and oxidizing fat around the clock. That has nothing to do with whether we get fatter or leaner.

    lol guys so he said he would provide an argument for me and this was his "argument" he had all day to prove me wrong but this is all he could provide here is our convo.     anywys, im gonna reiterate my views in a concise manner. Eating carbs before bed does, in fact, produce body fat. Because of this, I choose not to e...at approximately two hours prior to hitting the bed. Also, regarding the fact that I am pursuing a lean muscle mass, I choose to do cardio workouts (treadmill, bike, etc.), weight lifting, along with healthy eating/snacking (lean proteins, no fried foods, vegetables, nuts and seeds, etc.). By doing so, I will be able to achieve my goals of a lean body muscle mass.



    he has been following this "technique" for a bout a year and a half and he looks terrible lol..
