American Sports & Fitness Association - legit yes or no??

    Hi Guys,
Does anyone know if this company is legit??? company is endorsed by bodybuilding.com according to the website.
prices seem reasonable and I thought they could be useful for Continuing education credits etc (not a stand alone cert)

Does anyone have any experience with this company or know if qualifications are recognized within the industry
    thanks

I thought this might of been usefull for CECS but its a joke

Just took 2 of the tests on his site (just to see the standard) they are a bit of a joke to be honest I took the master trainer test and got 89% and the kettlebell instructor course and got 92%(need 70% to pass)- ok fair enough I have I am qualified and working in the industry years for 8 years so I should be passing them easily but........

The worrying thing is I could of just bought my ***** there and then - no questions about previous qualifications, experience, age identification absolutely nothing and to makes matter's worse you CAN get insured using this cert.

so basically I could take the test fill in a friends info and bang their a master trainer???

this type of cert pisses me off and is whats ruining the industry why should I have to spend years studying/working/ spending a fortune on CECS ect when someone can take a quick test and 5min later call themselves a master trainer get insured and go out working with the public!!

    seem crazy to me

    I wouldn't trust them.

I go through the ISSA. All their test are online/mail but they take a LONG time to complete. I'm working on my strength and conditioning certification right now and have at least 20 pages of typed up case studies and 4 pages of short essays. Plus 100 multiple choice, true false, and instructional DVD. Fortunately you have 8 months to complete each course! Haha Their master certification not only would require you to pass all 6 comprehensive certifications but after in order to call yourself "elite" or "master" trainer you would have to take another test on all 3 or 6 certifications. Love the ISSA but hate the long test!

No I wouldn't trust them either, its ridiculous that quals like this are out there a people a gaining employment off the back of them. there should be an overall body that course's should be accredited to and get rid of these useless quals which in my opinion is ruining the industry (REPS) in the uk is a great idea but not all health clubs take notice of it

I don't have any trainers at my gym who possess this certification.

Angry Beware of American Sports & Fitness Association

I will not be going through American Sports & Fitness Association for any of my fitness education. A friend of mine warned me about this company, she regrettably went through them because of a cheap price. So much time was wasted trying to complete one of their courses, which she said was pathetic. Gyms in my area do not accept ASFA certificates. Word to the wise, do not go through American Sports & Fitness Association.
