"I'm writing this message to Oprah in hopes that she, or someone watching the show, can reach out to this boy that I'm certain will serve as an inspiration to many, as it did to me:

A-Long is a 6-year old boy from a province in China. He lost both of his parents to AIDS. He himself is diagnosed with HIV (most likely passed through birth). In rural China, general ignorance of the public resulted in him being shunned and avoided. The boy lives alone, his only companion being his dog. At the tender age of 6, an age where a good portion of us are arguing to watch another 30 minutes of cartoons or what newly-released video games to buy, A-Long gathers firewood, cooks and bathe himself. He even finds the discipline to self-study.
