    Need some math help brahs

When do you use long division versus synthetic division? I'm in algebra 2 and I can't remember when its okay to use one but not the other, and vice versa.

Can only use synthetic when dividing by a binomial with a leading coefficient of 1, like x+4. Cannot use it with a binomial like 4x+3.

Ah thanks man, I knew it was something simple like that.

With long division, is it only acceptable to use it when its in the form of something like x+1/x-5?

I use synthetic division when I can. If I can't use synthetic then I use long. There aren't really limitations for long division in algebra 2.
