Woman shoots husband with 380..He doesn't know it.
Loots of room for conjecture here, my theory is it hit him at an angle and then sort of bounced off. Or at least I hope that is what happened since I have been carrying a 380 as a BUG.
Anyone else have a theory?

.380 is pretty weak I always considered a 38 special the minimum stopping power I'd want. I traded my LCP for a LCR .357 and feel much more confident in the .357's performance from the LCR.

Long ago we shot a wounded javelina in the head with an entire magazine of .380 at almost point blank and still had to run back to the truck to get the rifle and come back to finish it off. Also while target practicing with a little 1x4 wood backstop we found lots of rounds either didn't penetrate the old brittle wood or were laying just on the other side. IMO it's great for a deterrent only and you're better off carrying something that'll actually do some damage if need be.

.38 special isn't much more powerful than .380, though it does use heavier bullets, .38+p is slightly weaker than standard pressure 9mm.

Well that settles it. No 380 for me.
If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

Judging from the description given in the story I think this guy was probably sleeping on his side with one shoulder down on the bed and the other shoulder pointed towards the ceiling.
My guess would be he received a grazing on the shoulder and not a square on hit, something like that can happen with any round.
Personally I think it's a far greater likelihood that he survived due to the poor marksmanship of his attacker as opposed to the type of weapon fired in his direction.
I really don't see why this would shake anyone's confidence in 380 for self-defense, after all not talking about center of mass hits here.

Read story below vid....
"Michael found a bullet holes in his bedroom window and in the wall just above his bed. Detectives recovered an empty .380 caliber shell casing from outside the bedroom window and a bullet from a closet on the other side of the wall in the bedroom."
Husband was obviously passed out drunk if he didnt didnt hear a gunshot or felt being grazed by a bullet. The .380 went threw glass, grazed his shoulder and went threw a wall. Looks like the bullet did ok it just missed its target.

Pigs are pretty tuff animals with thick skulls.
Here is a story of a goat getting shot by 15 .223/5.56 rounds before flopping over.

Actully Javies are more closely related to the hippopotamus and rhinoceros than they are to any member of Rodentia.
