Right the US hasn't contributed anything in the way of technology. US has basically formed what we know of as the international monetary system. IMF, World Bank etc. Dollar is default world currency. USA also pressured UK and France to let go of their colonies post World War 2 and has been responsible for promoting freedom around the world more so than any other country.

I'd say in terms of single countries. France & Germany did more. England only does more when you include it with Scotland (Britain). If Scotland was not included with England in the graph of Human acomplishment, i think it would drop quite a bit. The Scots were responsible for a lot.
