In my experience, psychiatrists aren't really good for much other than prescribing medication. My advice for you would be to talk to your primary care physician and ask if he/she knows any good clinical psychologists. They tend to be a lot better at talking you through problems you may be having and can help you cope with anxiety and other mental distress.

you are having bad days because you think the ideal life is being totally happy
let me tell you something, no one is happy. u think bill gates is smiling right now? probably not..
once you realize life IS $HIT, then you feel better because what you're experiencing is what is what you are expected to experience
but you can still change that and be happy. just write down what things make you happy and do them as much as possible
oh, and get a loving girlfriend. most of my friends who were depressed came out of depression literally days after they got a loving girlfriend

Battled it for years and have beaten it once and for all, get counceling. I have learned that bottling all the things up makes for a shiity life. I cant say we are battling the same things but no BS I was down and out, heart palpatations, fear of heart attack, alcoholism, pills and anxiety so bad I could feel my heart in my neck.
I wanted help and all the docs would do is prescribe meds, meds are bullshiit and only made me worst. I stopped feeling sorry for myself, took control of my life and made it what I wanted.
Grab control OP you only live once, this is a terrible way to live.Homerotic Modulator, Envious of Idiocy

I'm sure you probably don't want to hear this but IMO maybe search for a relationship with God. He loves you more than you could ever begin to know and understand and He does want a relationship with you.
I've been through a similar situation as you though probably not on the same pretenses. For myself, had been a casual weed smoker for a good 4-5 years until one night with two buddies, we rolled a blunt of some blue satellite and lit it up and about halfway through I started tripping like everything someone said was somehow symbolic in a way (not laced either - just good stuff), but literally from that I nearly lost my mind. I was stuck in a tripping-like state for about a good month and a half and had to start seeing a psychologist.
Honestly, the psychologist didn't help much, but through those times I pushed harder and harder for an earnest relationship with God. Partially through fear at first because of what all I was going through and wanting it to be fixed, but throughout the experience it shifted to love of Him and His love for me. A lot of the things that occurred through the process was having to change my train of thought and realizing sort of 'trigger' thoughts. Say you get on a subject, which leads to a worse subject, which leads to a bad subject - and being able to recognize the first subject and where its going and changing thoughts around it. Remember, don't put too much pressure on yourself and stress out throughout the process because it will just make it that much worse and harder for you to deal with. Figure out what gets you down most of the time as well as what thoughts lead you towards a cynical mood and a depressing mood on yourself. You can't completely delete thoughts, but you can replace old with new. Have confidence in yourself and know regardless of the situations and circumstances, you do have a worth in you and find it and help build your confidence up. First and foremost IMO I think pursuing God will help you, but those were some things that helped me for my mental self throughout the process of searching. God bless man, hope you start feeling better
