Alternative way of doing Cable Rows

My weight machine didn't come with cable rows attachment, so i started using the lat bar. Don't want to waste money on that because I'm moving to the dorms next quarter, and can't waste much money. Just wondering does using the lat bar change what muscles are used, and would doing close grips with under and over hand do anything be any different, as well as wide grip using over or under hand.
    Thanks.

Yes different grips will slightly alter the movement. Give them all a fair shot, its best to hit your back from multiple angles. Especially if you are limited on equipment.

Ya I did cable rows with the lat bar tonight. It was a little different feeling (just because you don't see people using the lat bar to do rows). I watched a video of Dorian Yates doing them, saying they work the lower part of your traps.

I agree they do hit the traps nicely.
