i was surprised when i read it in my law book as well, but any knife is considered a weapon now. I believe it used to be 2.5" or 3" or less is legit.

Would it be necessary to get close to a dude with a knife? That's the only conclusion that I can come to based on what he told the other cops. I'd feel threatened to if I got close to someone and they turned around with a knife in their hand.

Horrible judgment IMO. I thought they have to take some kind of tests to become cops to prevent **** like this from happening. He gave him 3 warnings one after another in a time frame of like 5 seconds, if the guy was deaf he didn't even have time to signal to the cop.

AGain I didnt say the cop was in the right. I mention the 35 foot rule when it comes to knifes...and I offer anyone of the Misc to come to my district I work midnights and feel free to do a ride along with me....you will change your mind when your stopping 4 people and as you check for weapons one of them turns around in attempt to slice your neck open...

firstly, if they mentioned it in the video i apologize cause i do not have sound, i cannot listen to the video. second off, the cop carries his gun to protect him or herself from those who impose a physical threat upon them. a carpenter uses sharp objects, sure, but was he carving wood out in the middle of the street? does he have a big name tag saying "hey. im a wood carver, therefore i can carry this knife out in the open, dont worry"? no, that makes no sense, i dont care what your profession is, a knife is a weapon, no cop is thinking hes a wood carver at that very moment.

This would be the worst thing about being a cop. You can't win.

Cop shoots him 5 times because he came towards them with knife, we crucify him.

Cop doesn't shoot, partner gets stabbed through heart and dies (Yes obviously hypothetical situation), we crucify cop for not shooting him when he had the chance.

Was he heavy handed, maybe. Had he seen some ****ed up situations that lead to this, probably.

All we see is a guy with a knife walking away, then hear the cop scream drop the knife. The guy could have lunged or made a threatening gesture.

And no, you don't tase somebody with a knife. What if the taser fails or misses? That's one shot and now you're cut.

If the knife was not open and the guy wasnt a threat then yeah the cop fcuked up. My department has specific orders..hell even if the threat is going away from me and is still armed I am not able to shoot unless I believe he or she may be a threat to someone else

here is an example of 2 different cops, the first cop is clearly a trigger-happy "shoot before you think cop" who actually applauds the the murder done by the cop in the video. (you are a POS)

now the 2nd cop is clearly more suited for the job, actually analyzing the situation before making life-ending decisions. good job to you sir.
