Shoes for leg pres
I usually use my skate boarding shoes (no I dont skate) for squats and leg press. But I just saw a video of Zack Khan using Basketball shoes (not the ones with air pockets) for leg press. I may try this tmrw, any opinions on this ?

I work legs with Jordan IV's and have no problems, great ankle support on heavy squats, etc. If it's good for Zach Khan it's good for you.

What ever works for you, chief....but basketball shoes (or shoes with soft soles) aren't good for squatting. Probably why power lifters opt not to wear them.....just a hunch.

If you don't want to buy two pairs of shoes.....squat barefoot and buy yourself a pair of running shoes. Problem solved....
Or, you can find a shoe store that has the jogging shoes you want....and they offer a "buy one get the other half price". That way you can pick up some jogging shoes and some cheap Chuck Taylor's for squatting.

Schwarzenegger used to do squats in flip flops, so footwear may not necessarily matter too much. Lots of my friends like to lift wearing converse, but I've never liked for that (no arch).
I guess it's theoretically possible that enough weight on a leg press could cause an internal air pocket to explode. It would have to be really heavy.

Zack also sustained some very severe injuries on a hack squat machine, so I would not necessarily look to his training for examples.
Any shoe with a solid sole would work well for squats/leg press:
- Indoor Soccer Shoes
- Skate Shoes
- Work Boots
- Olympic Weightlifting Shoes

Why are they not good? I doubt any fat power lifters play ball or have bball shoes so ya I doubt they would buy a pair just to squat in.

if you just dropped the cash for a trwadmill I'm assuming you have a squat rack at home. In that case you have the choice of squatting barefoot.
That's what I do, feels good

PF Flyers are excellent, unlike Chucks the toe area is not cramped

I think you've pretty much answered your own question here. if you can't figure it out from that, then I would suggest you do a search considering this is a topic that's been beat into the ground beyond belief.

Do you have a wide foot? I've never had an issue with the toes being cramped, but can see how someone with a wider foot might have issues.

Why are these damn shoe threads getting so much distance? People here's all you need to know about weightlifting apparel/gear
1. Shoes - They go on your feet
2. Gloves - They go on your hands
3. Belts - They go around your waist
If you're hot while working out, wear less clothing and if you're cold, wear more clothing.

You're getting hot in Canada in December while you're working out? I'd recommend that you move to Antartica and/or start taking vasodilators. Next question please.

He's from BC, that's where the people who think California and Seattle are to conservative move to. So his statement didn't even hit me as weird.
