    INBF or NPC?

So i just posted a thread asking about NPC shows, but the more I read around here I think maybe I should stick to INBF. I am 100% natural and would love to compete in the "big" league of NPC against guys who are juicing and win, unfortunately I think this might be unrealistic. I really want to compete in the NPC, but don't want to cut so hard to be blown out of the water with no chance of being competitive. I also am not ready to take the leap of steroids at the moment.

I guess what I am asking (I have never done a show so I know very little about this stuff) is it possible to be competitive being natural in an untested event?

yes of course it's possible. however, the bigger the show...the less likely it is for a natural to do well in an NPC event.

as far as regional/smaller NPC shows, not only can naturals do well...they can potentially win the whole damn thing as Scott Kluth, Dave Goodin and Tommy Jeffers have recently proven.

    Its about what you want!

do you like your natural physique or do you really want to be bigger?

Personally a lot of unnatural bbs look like mutated globs of muscle and have lost the aesthetics of the sport. Props on being natural; won't judge if you grab some roids though.

IMHO though bigger isn't better; but do what you want your physique to look like.

If you are natural, then support natural bodybuilding and do natural shows. You are far more likely to enjoy your experience as well.

Hi DJ, I understand perfectly what you are dealing with. In the beginning, I competed in the NPC and remained 100% natural. As a natural, I won an Overall title at Dave Liberman's NPC Natural Northern USA Championships (at the time called the Ohio Governor's Cup) a Team Universe qualifier. So, yes, you can be very successful as a natural competitor in the NPC. I discovered reality when I competed in the NPC Jr. USA Championships and placed 9th as a Middleweight. At the Jr. USA, it became very clear that I could not achieve my goal of becoming an IFBB pro as a natural. As a result, I changed direction and began competing in the INBF and later achieved pro status in the WNBF. Without question, the NPC was a great experience and I learned a lot. But, without the option that the INBF and WNBF offers, I would have never realized my dream by remaining natural. Whether you decide to stay with the NPC or try the INBF, enjoy the spirit of competition and pushing yourself to heights your never thought possible. That alone will make it worth it.

    Much Respect,
    Delbert

Thanks guys and thanks delberthickman for your experiences. I love the sport but hate how there is no way to be an IFBB pro, in reality, without giving up your body (health wise). I found and NPC natural show in Ohio on April 2, if anyone has had some experience with these, do you know how strict they are? I'm not competing against guys that "say" their not but arent really tested am I?

Thanks again for all the help, its hard to come to terms with the fact that there is no way to acheive your goal (IFBB) without making, what could be, major sacrifices.

Depends on what your definition of 'competitive' is?

I was thinking of doing that show on the 2nd, but decided to do a show in cbus on the 16th instead, not because its INBF but because it's in cbus and I <3 cbus & don't care for Cleveland much.

Will be my first show ever. 100% all natural 4ever.

Yes, I echo Delbert's sentiments and wisdom. I won my class at the NPC Natural Ohio and qualified for the Team Universe. At that point, I chose to do another large NPC show and a WNBF Pro-Qualifier. The level of competition in the natural ranks was very competitive, very enjoyable and the rest is history.

I know a few friends that are doing the Natural Ohio and obviously the Buckeye Classic this year. Dave runs a good show, but it's only 1-year clean with unlimited over the counter help.

Personally a natural NPC show is a joke, almost an oxy moron, as rich said, natural for 1 year

Do the Buckeye or other INBF WBNF shows, the playing field is much more level
    and you will enjoy it

I am also looking to do my first show, although I'm looking to be ready by early, 2012. For the experienced guys on here, are the INBF shows a great start, or should I look elsewhere? I would love to one day compete in the NPC and it would be a dream to become an IFBB pro ...but in reality, I would NEVER take roids. Although, I love and respect the likes of the top IFBB pros, I pride myself on being all-natural. It definately is a great feeling and for me, becoming a natural pro is the way to go. I've looked at quite a few different organizations websites and would love to know which one is best to get my start. Any help would be much appreciated.
There is ALWAYS room for improvement.
