    Pushups, how much weight am I pushing?

    I heard something like 60% of your BW. Anyone know?

    It varies from the top of the push up to the bottom of the push up. It would also depend on the person's arm length and the length from shoulder to toes. The lower part of the push up is when you are supporting the most weight with your arms.

    I'd say it's close to 50% of your body weight. I usually fail around 50 pushups on the first set. Using the one rep max formula...that's pretty close to my 1RM bench press.

    Using a 1 rep max calculator. There's tons of them online. Just Google it. Some only allow 10 reps or lower...some go higher. They're are very accurate.

    I had 4 guys at work assume the push up position on a medical clinic scale and it ranged from 58% to 67% of our body weight.

    I did this when I was at 195 and It said 175... I didn't think that was right, seemed like too much.
