gl bro. GRE is frustrating and at the very end they ask you if you want to throw out your scores. Remember it is based off of item response theory. If you think the questions are hard, you are doing well. If they are easy you are in trouble.

Way worse. Your SOPs have to be focused, you have to have a general idea of what you want to study and which professors you want to work with and why. Not to mention the acceptance rate for a lot of grad schools is 10-20%.

It tells you your exact score at the end aside from writing. But asks you if you want to throw the test out or see your scores, which sucks if you think you did bad, because once you see them they are automatically reported to the schools you listed at the beginning.

I was told you can wait to see the scores then pay an extra $25 to send them if you like them...

If all you need is the minimum I would just report them right away. You can always sign up and retake it again right away if you did poorly. Most schools realize the test-retest reliability is not perfect on these tests, so they will accept your best scores as long as you haven't taken it 4-5 times.

    My application cycle included:
    14 medical school applications
1 graduate school for chemical engineering (backup plan)

Luckily I didn't have to pay a cent for the 14 med school apps. Fill out 1 med school app (AMCAS FTW) and 1 grad school app. However, if you count secondaries, that **** was ****ing endless

Still waiting to here back on grad school. I did horrible on the GRE, but I thought it was a stupid test anyways. I still find it hard to believe they place so much emphasis on a single test to determine the potential success rate of someone wanting to pursue a graduate degree.
Sometimes you have to see the bottom before you reach the top

Stop making it more complicated than it is, lift heavy weights, get your diet in check, and get enough rest.

R.I.P to all my boys and loved ones who passed away.

unless you get to meet the entire selection committee your self-presentation will only go so far. It definitely won't hurt, but I wouldn't count on that to get you over the hump. If you are on the waiting list and they don't have an official order then it will definitely help, but I don't know how much it would matter as far as the straight selection goes, because they usually have a standardized way of selecting candidates.

It's because the predictive validity is well established. It does an amazing job of predicting success at the graduate level, much more so than undergrad GPA. GPA is usually not really considered, aside from cut points. It usually comes down to research experience and GRE scores.

Gpa (just try to get it to minium of your grad school's degree school)
Research experience (especially if your going for a phd)
    Work experience
Recommendations (should be 3 letters, and all don't have to be from profs. Like it could be from a supervisor in job/co- op/internship)
GRE scores (at least minimum of what grad school wants)

I would say 5-7 yrs work experience in your field could trump Gpa and Research. Not to sure b/c I never asked a question on this on college confidential website.

edit: Well I guess you could say everything could trump eachother if they were high/good enough

I only applied to 1 acutal graduate school (that offers phd's n ****) and all they care about is primarily gpa and gre. At least that is what they told me. As for the other graduate schools, such as med school, everything matters. Everything from your gpa and mcat to your volunteer experience and personal statement.

I would not rank them like that at all.

    It would be

    1. Research Experience
    2. GRE Scores
    3. LORs
    4. GPA
    5. Work Experience

(Unless of course you are looking into professional degrees like Law, MBA, etc. where Work experience would move up on the list)

GPA is about worthless because there is no way to compare it. Most schools use it simply as a cut off. IE if you have below a certain GPA we throw your app out.
