Does standard bench press also help get bigger arms?

    Hello evr1!

Is that true that heavy barbell bench press with barbell or dumbbell press will help me get bigger arms as well? I'm not talking about close grip bench press or any other triceps exercises.

    Thank you so much.

Yes, any of the presses will also hit triceps.

Maybe?....... any pressing/arm extending movement will involve the triceps. Now different grip widths, angles, exercises, etc, can place more emphasis on different muscles. So yes, benching will 'help' in getting 'big arms'.

yeahh your triceps do play a big role in the press and triceps are 2/3rds of your arm. Dont your arms look pumped after pressing?

Yeah benching will strengthen your triceps

just like most back exercises such as barbell rows will strengthen the biceps

    they can

Presses may involve the tri's on your heavier sets. But I dont /wouldn't recomend that you use a standered press for arm mass/strength you arnt hitting them directly.

    any compound.

the way i understand it is that any of the big compound movements like presses , Pulls , dead lifts and squats are going to build over all mass.
So like, even heavy squats play a role in giving you bigger arms.
Even though your not hitting arms directly they are growing because the whole skeletal muscle system is one.
and the heavy power moves signal the whole system to get bigger and stronger to adapt.

The isolation exorcises like barbell curls are more going to shape and separate the muscle.

some guy wrote an article called do heavy squats to get huge arms or something to that effect.
The premise being the overall growth of the skeletal muscular system through overload and the release of GH
(growth hormone) into the system by doing heavy compound exercises.

Close grip bench especially is one of the best tricep exercises, which since your arm is 2/3 tricep makes it one of the best overall arm size exercises.

If you bench press heavy weight with low reps and push yourself your arms will definitely increase in size
