    Eat or Not Eat

Should I be eating anything before the gym? I drink NO Explode an hour before my workouts, but Not sure if I should be eating anything prior to working out. I have heard both sides, so Im wondering what your thoughts are. Thanks!

How do you feel right now with your energy when training? Its all a matter of how it affects you in the gym. I HAVE to eat within 2 hours or so of lifting, I just feel like crap otherwise. Some people get nauseous if they eat. No hard and fast rule

I agree. If I don't eat about 1-2 hours prior I get sick, but its all individual.
That which does not kill me, better run like hell!!!

Never take your home gym for granted, one day it will not be there and then you have to deal with people.

    thanks

I think I feel ok when I work out. Especially with the energy the NO Exlode gives me. But I def. need to eat after my workout. Im typically starved by then.

    Thanks for the thoughts

For me my pre-workout meal is the most important meal of the day. If I don't fuel right I will have a pretty pathetic workout. I usually have a turkey sandwich an hour before. Something light. If it's too heavy or too close to my workout I might feel sick or get a little burpey.

And the NOXplode, I have used it but beware - you take 1 scoop now and your workout is awesome. Next thing you know you'll have to take 2 or 3 scoops to feel the same effects. I eventually stopped using it and just fuel with food. I have 1/2 a bottle of NOXplode left and it's collecting dust on my shelf.

I have wanted to try SuperPump250 or Jack3d to see how they measure up but haven't gotten around to it yet.

It's not a matter of 'should' its really what makes you feel better.

For a long time I did all workouts first thing on an empty stomach. Not because I thought it was more effective, I just didn't like eating first thing...

Now my trainer talked some sense into me, and I eat a little before I workout. Something small, but high energy (PB and whey for the win!). My workout intensity is much better. I didn't know I DIDN'T have energy until I started eating first

Edit: as for supps, I use Jack3d. I like it, but I haven't tried anything else to compare it against.

I used to think I had to eat prior to working out or I wouldn't have energy. Now I train on an empty stomach 1st thing in the AM and my workouts are better than they ever were. But, like has been said, it's very individual. As Jesse said, she had the opposite happen to her. Experiment!

Kim- Jack3d and SP are both awesome! But just like what you said happened with the NO, it loses it's effect after a little while, so I cycle off for a little while or switch between brands here and there. So far Jack3d is my absolute favorite pre w/o supp though!

I actually found that it doesn't make that big of a difference. Sometimes I miss my pre-workout meal, or I had it 5 hours prior, but it doesn't matter. Your body is STILL digesting the food you have from breakfast, so if you choose to train at lunch time on an "empty" stomach, it doesn't matter, because you still have a big breakfast in your system.

If you nutrition during the day is spot-on, it doesn't really make a difference. I haven't lost any muscle, or strength, from sometimes missing my pre-workout meal. Do what makes YOU feel best.

Typically If it's an AM workout I don't eat before hand because it will make me sick (mostly because I dont have enough time to wait inbetween eating and working out). Most of my awesome cardio workouts happen in the AM. I don't think I would have the energy to lift in the morning on an empty stomache. For a PM workout I eat about 2-3 hours beforehand and then grab a protein bar or a banana right after. But experiment see what works best for you
