Hi guys, what I do is I just put a scoop in my mouth, and wash it down with water. I've recently been told that creatine is only effective when its dissolved in water/any other liquid. Is this true?

Apparently the word is, it needs to be dissolved for it to be effective. Otherwise you pass most of it out. The only real way to do this I find is by using warm water.
P.S. before taking it (I recently got up to 190 and taking bodybuilding seriously) I researched it , but never came across this fact until a few days in. It was when someone posted will Brinks articles. All the old studies were done with warm beverages such as coffee but I never linked two and two together. How much if any I absorbed previously I do not know.

I too have recently just seen this, probably in same thread. I don't know if it's true but I'm not risking it until I see further evidence. So I am drinking it warm. Coffee so far and it's good. Used to put it in my shakes but oh well.

ummm so do the contents of my stomach NOT meet the criteria of warm solution to dissolve in??? not like creatine is targeted to be absorbed through the mouth or troat tissues...... otherwise we would gargle with it or some BS
makes zero sense why not?
i too take scoop in mouth and drink cup of water after, works fine for me.
my two cents

You guys can take it whatever way you want. Just keep wondering why there are so many threads about the stomach-related "side effects."

This post is ancient, however, for anyone wondering...just take your creatine.
Fancy methods of taking supplements are simply marketing schemes so you buy the latest product.
Creatine is in meats and we absorb that, it's not difficult.A test of faith is when all things in life become hopeless, and God asks, "Will you still trust Me through the illusion of abandonment?"

Yea but its already dissolved into the meats, otherwise you would see powder all over your meats. It makes sense that it should be fully dissolved first to get the maximum absorption from it. I'm sure if you take it with water with out dissolving some of it will dissolve maybe even most of it, but depending on how much you are taking that undissolved stuff can be uncomfortable to your digestive tract.

old but true
Ever since I've mixed CM with hot water I've had no more of the $hit$, so I've noticed a difference. I'd rather go with info from will brink than the brah scince of other posters. just because you think you're using logic and have it figured out does not mean you're right. People used logic back in the 1600's to say the earth was flat because why would you think otherwise, untill someone used science to come up witht the fact that it's round. So logic might say it dissolves but science seems to say otherwise. Read the post by Will Brink.
