With a 3.5 Cumulative GPA, what colleges could i get into?(srs)

Hopefully my GPA will rise after the upcoming spring semester, but you never know.
I go to a community college right now, and after fuking up the first few semesters, i finally got back on track.
I know 3.5 sucks for a CC, but what colleges could i get into with that?
I never took the SAT's in high school (should i?)
    I am not an athlete.
I am in no honors classes.
All in all, im just an average student with and average GPA.

Well, the good news is, you have more class experience now than when you were in HS. You can still take the SAT/ACT. You'll probably do better than when you were in HS.

You can always go to a state school, those aren't hard to get into at all.

Oh, and a 3.5 isn't average, it's well above average.

A "C" is the definition of average. It is always the bell curve. 2.0 is technically the average, though I think you could safely assume that the norm is between 2.0 and 3.0.

lol 3.5 is pretty good for CC breh. our CC has agreements with UC schools, and you get priority with UCLA/Berkeley with a 3.5 or higher. 3.0 or higher and you are automatically into all other UC's. I'm assuming you go to Palomar?

SAT at least, not being American I don't use that silliness, but I know from applying to US universities GPA is kinda important, but not at all as important as SAT / GRE scores.

dude ill have a 3.5 by the time I decide to transfer

you will get accepted to almost every college you apply to with a college GPA over 3.0. I applied to PSU last semester and I was accepted with 30 credits and a 3.25 GPA. I was offered a slight scholarship, but it wasn't enough so I decided to stay at CC and raise my GPA to see if I could get more $$

Ive come to discover a 3.0 college gpa = a high school gpa of 3.5 with honors
if you dont agree, you are doing it wrong.

    edit:

you shouldn't need SAT/ACT scores for most colleges if you have 30 or more credits

I dont have ANY honors classes done and i am transferring soon.
Can i still be in that program
nah man, you don't need honors classes.. you're transferring from a community college, the only thing you need to worry about is completely your General Ed. and Major requirements and maintain a good GPA, for your case, a 3.5 is great.

you don't need SAT/ACTs, so don't worry about that. just make sure you handle your UC app's and write a hell of a personal statement.

if you're in college now and want to transfer, take your SAT. You'll easily be able to get into a decent college with a 3.5 gpa and good sat scores. extra currqs aren't that important once you're already in college.

Oh, and a 3.5 isn't average, it's well above average.

A "C" is the definition of average. It is always the bell curve. 2.0 is technically the average, though I think you could safely assume that the norm is between 2.0 and 3.0.
No schools still use a bell curve. Some schools come close in certain programs (EE, Physics), but average at most place is around 3.5 or higher...

Brah, best bet is to take SATs. Most schools will care. Also, I dunno about Cali, but in VA there are guaranteed acceptance programs from CC to state schools if you keep X GPA (usually 3.5 or 3.3). Worth looking into.

Also, where are you looking to go, and what are you looking to study? Relevant information in regards to options.

SAT's dont matter if you're transferring from a CC.

Just bomb out applications to everyone man. No reason to sell yourself short.

You're pretty much guaranteed to get into any State school you want....go ahead and try the UC's...good shot there.

Berkeley/Stanford is a long shot but no reason you shouldnt take a shot.

LOL brah you don't need SAT for CC transferring into University.

3.0 GPA will fullfill "Transfer Admission Guarantee" with UC Irvine, Davis, Merced, Riverside, Santa Cruz, and San Diego.

3.2 GPA will fullfill "TAG" with UC Santa Barbara

UCLA and UC Berkley does not do TAG, they do TAP (Transfer Admission Priority) Which gives transfer students priority over everyone else.

If you have +2.5 GPA, that's an auto acceptance to all CSU's.

you must be high then. there are plenty of students with perfect SAT/ACT scores who get rejected from schools like harvard and mit. extracurriculars are the only thing that differentiate students at top schools because a good percentage of students there have perfect/near perfect standardized test scores.

Some colleges disregard SAT/ACT scores but the only reason you shouldn't sent those is if you have a high GPA and many extracurriculars and have taken hard courses.
SATs you can't study for. I took mine twice and studied on the first one. My second one was 100 points higher and I didn't study for that one. The SATs is an aptitude test. You either know it or you don't. The book from collegeboard does help but there is no specific criteria to study for. Also, taking the SATs is completely different. Skipping questions can help. It is easier for a transfer student from a college to get into a college vs a high school student. You might have a good chance. Go to collegeboard.com. It tells you about colleges and all their information. Acceptance rates/ Avg. GPAs/ Avg SATs for nearly every university.

You only need Honors for UCLA and Berkeley

Other UC's you don't. Applying for "TAG" starts between Sep 1 and ends Sep 30. If you did not sign out TAG then you can still apply as an origin day student, but the chances of you being accepted is lower.

I did 3 years at a CC, No SATs/ACTs required (one of the perks of transferring), just maintained a 3.0+ gpa, got accepted to ucla, irvine, davis, san diego, and santa cruz. i didn't do TAG either.

work on your UC/CSU apps and turn them before deadline, write your personal statement (SECOND MOST IMPORTANT OTHER THAN GPA), and dont **** up on your spring semester and wait till march/april

This. My friend got a 3.5 GPA, and no extracurriculars at all, but got into Loyola at Chicago just like all his other friends, but also he scored a 31 on the ACT, so he was set.

This other guy I know though, got a 4.7 GPA (still based out of 4) but got a 21 on his ACT and now he's pretty much ****ed. He's still a senior though so he can figure something out. Must feelbadman.

OP, telling us your GPA doesn't do shiit. It depends what major you are planning to transfer to, and what classes you have taken.... And the level of your CC.... They prob had guaranteed transfer programs that you probably aren't even aware of if you are asking such a question....? You are 20, you should know this.

where you at in SD btw?
oh my fault, maybe mesa and palomar don't have the agreement. I go to Mira Costa, and I know they have the priority agreement for berkeley/ucla. they are the only two UC's which aren't guaranteed admission, but priority with the TAP program. I know kids that have gotten into them without the TAP program and gpa's from 3.4-3.6. you don't NEED TAP. depends on the major your apply for and how impacted it is.

I'm applying to USC now, and most of the UC's next year. :/ you need 60 transferable creds to go, and I have around half that now lol

edit: just saw your major is the same as mine, business (mine is bus. admin.). UCLA doesn't have a business program, it's more aimed at business math/econ, which is highly impacted. UCBerkeley has business admin as a major, and Haas' school of bizz one of the best in the nation.

and for everyone else... he is at CC, not high school. sat/act doesn't matter (for most schools). and 4.0 is the highest gpa you can go.
