Push Ups

So I have never been good with push ups. What are the most effective exercises to help me increases the amount of push ups I can do.

oh my bad. well i would say do some weighted pushups. have someone place a weight on your upper back as you do it. get used to doing it with weight, so when you do them without the weight, youll be like a piston!

and deff hit chest heavy and shoulders and triceps. those 3 are the main muscles involved.

Pushups are more of a endurance exercise. The only way to really do more pushups is by doing pushups.

Do 10 sets every other day. The next week, increase the amount of reps in each set.

You get better at pushups by doing pushups. Grease-the-groove. This example illustrates pullups but you can subsitute pushups in its place: http://forum1.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=967733

If you struggle with push-ups hit your triceps harder in the gym and build your strength up in them, will boost your push-ups no end.
