and Rotator cuff ?
Besides this, do you need a kind of warmup before entering a set of push-up ?
I've understood that practising light external rotation (for warming up the infraspinatus) before is a good thing.
Could you please confirm (or infirm) these ?
Thanks by advance for your thoughts

I disagree with both responses above.
You don't need to warm up for push ups. Doing the push ups will warm you up before they get strenuous enough to hurt you, assuming you can do a few reps with relative ease.
Same applies for any exercise.
Pushups do not hurt the body in any way.
Any exercise that challenges you can injure you.
In response to the OP, if there is already something wrong with your shoulder(s), it may be aggravated. And like anything, they can cause damage but if you don't overdo it, you'll be fine and they'll strengthen your shoulders.A man can only be beaten in two ways: if he gives up, or dies.

Think of push-ups as a reverse bench press. Regarding your shoulders that means:
- Keep your shoulders back (squeeze your shoulder blades)
- Tuck your elbows at approximately 45 degrees
If you perform them correctly, push-ups are great for shoulder health, doing them with bad technique however can be pretty nasty for shoulders.

If ANY exercise that challenges you can injure you, why wouldn't you do a warm-up before pushups?
OP, If you can, always perform stretching/warm-up before any kind of exercise, which was already said before, even pushups. It definitely won't hurt to have a warmed up body before making it work harder.

I think you should save your rotator cuff work for near the end, prefatiguing them before a compound movement where you need their stability doesn't seem good. The external rotators are definitely really important but I'd want them at full strength in other movements to do their role.
I haven't heard of pushups being particularly bad, if anything I wonder if they're healthier for the shoulder than a bench press since they allow your scapular to move comparatively more freely.
A warm up can be a good idea for a lot of stuff, especially if you are having problems. I get creaky shoulders sometimes so I might do 5-10 pushups against the wall then on my knees just to get it flowing before going into full feet-touching pushups.
For incline ones or doing some limited RoM handstandish ones, some light overhead dumbbell pressing is also good.
