but it wasn't a death sentence, it was a consequence of him resisting arrest and being in poor health

Was there an alternative approach the police could've taken? If so, why did they not? They are to blame for deciding on a chokehold on an overweight man as being the best approach. Somebody is responsible, and to elude to the fact that it's his weight is fukin ridiculous.
