Hey guys. About 2.5 months ago I had a knee dislocation. For those that don't know, a knee dislocation is when at least three of the four ligaments in your knee tear leading to major instability. In my case I tore my ACL, LCL, and PCL. At the time of trauma, the ER docs performed a bypass on my popliteal artery (behind the knee) to make sure blood was flowing to my foot.
I was immobilized for 6 weeks and non weight bearing for 3 weeks after that, just focusing on flexion. At my doctors appointment two weeks ago, the doctor did the osteopathic tests and confirmed with an MRI that my ACL and LCL had healed themselves and the PCL was the only ligament still torn. He then said that a lot of people manage to play contact sports without a PCL and it's just a matter of strengthening the quad enough to compensate. All in all, no additional surgery for me!
I've been doing physical therapy and even though my quad is seriously atrophied, I've been making really good progress. I can flex 110 degrees and can successfully do box squats at the height just at the bottom of my patella.
My question is regarding swelling. It's been a long time since my surgery, and I still have a ton of swelling around the knee. It's really been holding back my flexion and has made wearing my brace super uncomfortable. I've iced it to no avail, massaged, compression, and elevated. Do you guys have any tips to help remove some of this stubborn swelling? Also, any tips on developing the quads more quickly are welcome!
Thanks
Tl;Dr - how do I get rid of stubborn knee swelling?

Edema taping uses kinesiology tape to aid reduction in swelling. The tape is cut into roughly 1/2" wide strips (except for the anchor) and the "fingers" are placed around the swollen area. You can also do a normal kinesiology taping to help support the knee (patella usually) but this is different. You can actually combine the two like the following example
