    What muscles does rowing work?

I'm considering joining a rowing team and am wondering which muscles it works. I'm guessing it would be mainly the same ones as leg presses and barbell rows? And is it really an amazing cardio workout?

I am a varsity athlete at Boston University and i am on the rowing team. Rowing is 70% legs and 30% upper-body. So your best bet is to do lots of squats, SLDL'S, and leg press. Then concentrate on your upper body. and yes rowing is a really intense aerobically based sport. Good cardio workout.

Yeah, I row at UCLA, Kostag's got it.

The rowing motion is basically a horizontal deadlift repeated many, many times, with your legs being the most dominant muscles.

    It's a great sport, I'd recommend it.
