    Healthiest Bread Brands

Hello all, i'm aware people on there boards seem to think whole grain bread followed by whole wheat bread are the most "healthy" types of breads. I was wondering what brand do you eat or which are among the healthiest brands? Thank you in advance, reps for good answers.

(P.S.- I eat Oroweat Whole Wheat).

I love Silver Hills and Dave's Killer Bread; both are studded with seeds, which may or may not work for you.

I try to minimize my carbs so I use wonder "lite" bread. It's lower in calories than regular bread (40 cals per slice) and still whole grain. I think it tastes pretty good! Either that or I'll have sara lee deliightful wheat, 45 calories a slice and REALLY tastes good.

I think orowheat has really good options. Very high in fiber and whole grains. Plus if you ask me it's DELICIOUS. I sometimes get the oatmeal, which probably isn't as healthy as the whole wheat kind, but it's sooo good.

lol This, and that person wasn't even the OP. Gotta love the Nutrition forum.

Burgen, Helga's, Lawson's are pretty good. I don't really deviate from them too much if/when i buy bread.

For burritos and fajitas I use Mission carb balance tortillas. They are only 7 carbs each and have 11 grams of fiber so they really fill you up. They taste just like any other white flour tortilla and are normal size.

I can eat more bread when I pick one that is only 50 calories a slice.

You may want to inspect your overall diet if it is so strict that you are unable to obtain fiber/micronutrients from other sources and you are focusing on bread for the "healthy" benefits.

    Thanks everybody for the input.

I guess by healthy I mean nutrient dense and natural ingredients. I'm not worried so much about the calories in them.

I have been on these forums for a while and searched the likes of "best bread brands" and "healthy bread brands" to no avail. Go search the advanced search yourself. There are many topics on whole wheat and whole grain breads but barely any on healthy brands themselves. Please do not ask me to use the search before I post, because if I don't find the answers within what I search, I start my own thread. That is what threads are for. I repped your first comment anyways, but don't be so ignorant to tell somebody what to do if you don't know if they already did it or not.

It has a pretty good taste. I think it has a sourdough kinda taste, but most people disagree w me. It is an organic bread and is made w sprouts instead on enriched flour, so that is why it is so expensive. I think it is usually found in the frozen foods section of most grocery stores. It's good, give it a try.

"+1 on the Dave's Killer Bread, although I'm not sure how widely available it is outside of the Portland area. I was eating Ezekiel for a while but to me it's kinda like eating cardboard. Dave's is really healthy, higher in protein (I'm pretty sure) and in my opinion tastes waaay better.

Dave's killer bread sounds kinda funny. I will have to look for it though, can't say I have ever seen it in the PHX Arizona area. Yeah think of it, it is kinda like cardboard sourdough. Kinda like Kashi, kinda bland.

It is an organic bread and is made w sprouts instead on enriched flour, so that is why it is so expensive. I think it is usually found in the frozen foods section of most grocery stores. It's good, give it a try.
Thanks. What brand do you prefer?
