    Nutrition Certified

    Hi,
I haven't been active with the forum for months, hope all is well.
I'm a certified personal trainer and is looking to become certified for nutrition as well.
So far I only started researching about NESTA and ENW. I was wondering if anyone has experience with these two programs, I'd like to know your feed back regarding them. Also if you are certified with another program, I'd like to hear about it too.

What I'd like to know is cost, efficiency, and practicality.

    Thank you.

Have you tried looking at ISSA Nutrition certification? Its like $500 bucks though.
I am looking into that cert. I'm also taking nutrition classes at my local college. Granted, it doesn't give me a certification, but I have learned a lot in designing and implementing for different body types. So you might want to try that in addition....

    Okay, I'll look into ISSA.
Is there any one with experience in any of the above programs?

    Thanks,

I am certified with NESTA everything on the test I basically already knew, its all online. I mean I didn't really learn much from it but I seem more credible now to clients for food recommendations since I have the certification.

I am doing the ISSA SPN right now and it requires a lot. I have done all the online and book stuff and am now doing the research paper and learning experiences. The only problem with nutrition certifications is some states are strict on what you can and can not do if you are not a RD.

I've pre-registered for this and I'll take this over any other certification to learn bout nutrition. Having seen the ISSA one, I find it's pretty normal and you'd probably already know this anyway. Dr.Berardi's seems pretty well packed.

    Interesting comment:

Nutrition information is what you want it to be. Obviously every certification is going to make it's case regarding what they think is proper athlete nutrition, and with the miraculous discovery of the twinkie diet , anything goes..

Thanks to the principle of individual differences, you better do your research and look into as much nutrition information as you can, not just what your certification provides or you will limit yourself to only one doctrine.

This I can agree with. If I were to choose a certification, I would go with the following link as opposed to ISSA: http://www.sportsnutritionsociety.org/CISSN.html

To each their own. Much of what you learn will come outside of your nutrition certification.

Thanks for the reply. What I'm most afraid of is paying for a cert that only teaches thing that's pretty common sense or basic knowledge that I've already known.

What is broscience and brotrition? I know it's a joke but I don't know what it means.

    this.

make sure you know your state laws or you could end up on the wrong side of a lawsuit. i always stay away from specific weights and amounts. always stress the fact that what you are saying is a general guideline.

unless you're just unfamiliar with how nutrition applies to different goals, I personally think nutritional certifications are a waste. clients should put total faith in you based upon what you demonstrate through results and knowledge of your field. In my mind anyway
