    Rippetoe

Alright I am doing rippetoes to start off. And right now I want to build mass and weight. And it is working I've been doing it for almost 2 months. Okay now at school we took a Pushup test and I got 60 it's not timed but it's a really slow test so it's harder. Teacher said the max was 106. And I want to beat that. I got 9 weeks to do it so I was wondering if I could do pushups while on rippetoes. The day I do bench press either warm up with 100 pushups or finish with that? I know people say don't mess with the program but i don't think pushups twice a week or once a week will on the same day I'm Doing rippetoes will hurt me any

I wouldn't do them before bench presses because then you would be subpar while doing BP

If doing pushups is your goal why don't you do a program geared to that? What's the big deal about being able to do all these pushups anyways? Are they going to give you some prize? Bragging rights? Name the event after you? I'd just do the Starting Strength Program and save the pushups for your class.

There are pushup programs that you can do that will get you over 100 fairly quickly, but they can't be done when you're on SS. It'll be either one or the other.

I've never seen anyone get further than a few weeks into those 100 pushup programs, and none were even close to 100, most were short of 50. I think it's more of an "in theory" kind of program that doesn't work well in practice.

    OP,
if you're going to do pushups, do them after your strength work (2-3 times a week). High rep muscular endurance type work done near failure will leave you gassed/unrecovered for quite a while after.

I wasn't talking about any program in specific in my post.
