All Rampage did in round 1 was clinch and stomp. Machida landed leg and body kicks sporadically.
So weird how bias affects people. Everyone was up in arms when Couture won by clinch and pray, Rampage does it and suddenly every one is saying Machida didn't do enough.
I agree that Machida looked unimpressive but that doesn't change that he was the more effective fighter"Men acquire a particular quality by constantly acting a particular way... you become just by performing just actions, temperate by performing temperate actions, brave by performing brave actions."

I think Machida could have been given the win, but these guys gotta finish the fights. Machida did "enough" to win, but IMO it's not a real win unless you finish them or just DESTROY them in a unanimous decision. Both guys needed to take more chances and quit playing it so damn safe. Rampage was a dispointment yet again. If all he has is punches then why is he not taking more chances and attacking Machida...
At least Rampage came out to the epic PRIDE theme though.Anti-*******ry Crew

When the fighter that won admits that he didn't, that tells you something. Rampage earned a lot of points with me on that tonight.

This.
I'm curious as to just what the **** some of these people think Machida did to win the first two rounds so decisively to make this an outrage? Rampage was cutting off the Octagon from him (Octagon Control) and Machida got tagged with a nice uppercut (the most effective strike in rd 1), controlled the Octagon in round two and got a take down in round two.
That equals a perfectly good argument for winning the first two rounds, and as a result, the fight.
Just because someone finishes a fight in style that doesn't erase what happened, or didn't happen in the first two rounds.

Great...more robbery bull****.
Rampage won 2 close rounds and won the fight by a split decision. It's not robbery.
As for using Rampage claiming he lost the fight as a reason for argument...it's Rampage. He says stupid sh*t all the time.
To him getting beat up like he did in the 3rd round = losing the fight.

You guys know how scoring works, right?
Rampage won the fight according to UFC's scoring system. While I agree that the way of scoring fights is really ****ed up and that it should be changed, the judges didn't do anything wrong. Rampage barely won the first two rounds because he actually hit Lyoto a few times and then Lyoto convincingly won the last round. Again, Rampage won according to the scoring system in the UFC.A man must be true to his own nature.
