our bodies are designed to feed and then fast .. animals eat that way and our ancestors ate that way, then why doesnt anyone fast anymore ?
Because it goes against the basic principle of economics " supply and demand ", eating less is bad for business
eat 6 meals, eat protein, eat breakfast, eat whole wheat .. it all revolves around making sure the populations continues eating and buying more and more food
brb eating 30 grams of protein six times a day
brb eating every 3 hours to lose fat
brb eating breakfast fat so i don't lose my muscle
brbr avoiding carb but still eating tons of calories
inb4 starvation mode

The best meal frequency is the one most convenient to you. I was working in a relaxed warehouse environment a couple of years ago, pretty early in the morning, where I could eat at my desk anytime I wanted and take my official lunch break anytime I wanted. It made sense, back then, to eat 5-6 times a day and I liked it.
I changed jobs and the situation changed drastically, to a much more strict control of my schedule and when I could and could not take breaks, so I started eating at home at the end of the day instead. I couldn't have done 5-6 meals because of the schedule, and a sort of IF made perfect sense then.I love beer too much.

Latino you are right, a lot these days has to do with the $$. Sometimes I eat 5 times a day, sometimes only 2. It doesn't really matter, our bodies are designed to handle fasting, it's actually good for your body to fast a little sometimes. Trouble is these days with gluttony in the western world, very few people know what its like to go without food for a few hours, sad but true.

Repped.
Im getting sick of hearing about our ancestors. Just because we THINK our ancestors and cavemen did something does NOT mean it is the best or most efficient way to do something.
I have been IFing for a few months now, and while I love it, I wont go as far as saying that it is superior to anything else. It works with my schedule which means I will stick to IFing easier than 5-6 meals a day.
Oh, and welcome to IFing, as you are obviously new to it.

This is exactly why we have so many obese people in countries like the USA, Australia and the UK. I don't think we are doing better than our ancestors, slowly we are killing ourselves with over nutrition, not under nutrition. Life expectancies are on their way down in the more wealthy western nations because of one simple reason: over consumption.
Most people are much more likely to overeat eating 6 meals a day than 3 meals a day. There was nothing wrong with eating 3 meals a day, when people were doing this, they were less obese and healthier. Look at the countries where obesity is almost non existant such as some asian countries and some part of europe have quite low obesity, you think they eat 6 meals a day?
