Just curious & want opinions:
1.) How far do you drop down? I drop until my arms are bascially extended straight out.
2.) Do you do all sets to failure? (I do)
3.) Do you use good form? I use pretty strict form & medium speed on reps; no crazy fast swinging or waving of the legs to get reps.

i try to come to full stop, then pull back up again. as for full rom not sure. i do know if i go down to low i sometimes sorta choke myself on my upper chest. i bring my legs into it sometimes. i find close grip is better than wide grip becuase i feel it more.

I don't go all the way down for a few reasons:
1. I just started doing wide grip pull-ups, I find it takes time to get the MMC.
2. I feel it better keeping tension on the back
3. I can't do too many :-P
But yeah in a few weeks I'll start going all the way down and see how it goes, but for now I really feel it in my back not goin all the way down.Proud Latin Rite Catholic Disciple of Jesus Christ

1. All the way, till my arms are extended straight, dead hang lockout. Served two years in the army, this was the standard required. Besides, it is easier to keep track. Say you aim to go 75% down...as time goes by, I'm certain you will start reducing your ROM to get more reps.
2. Depends. I have a day every week dedicated to pull-ups, and during that day, I go to failure on every set.
3. Yes. Again, military standard.Served two years in the military. Respect all military brahs!

All the way down, then up until chin over bar

All the way with pronated grip (and I try to elevate my scapula too to stretch the lower traps). With supinated I have difficulty getting all the way down, does external rotation make scapular upper rotation harder or something?
Eh, depends on definition of failure. I'm generally too wuss to push my limits. More a failure of will than failure of chemical energy. Ashamed of this.
Usually only on the first rep or too, then due to weakness and fatigue it deteriorates and I go too fast or allow some swinging or weird stuff.
