How do you not lose your breath when public speaking

Gave a presentation today and it went better than expected, but there were a few things that bothered me. It seemed like a got short of breath several times when i would read a paragraph. My voice would go into some weird high pitch tone that sounded awkward as hell..haha wat can i do to fix this..happens everytime i talk in public

You're probably speaking too hurriedly and not placing strategic pauses where needed, very common since time seems to warp fast/slow when in front of an audience.

Take a deep breath before the presentation and just try to relax. It happens to me when im nervous and not fully prepared. When I know my sh*t everything goes fine. Other than that may be some cardio to improve stamina.

sounds like you got anxiety problems. only way to get better is to do it more often. try socializing with people in your gym, ones you dont know, and asnwer more questions in classroom or with groupds of people.

I do this too when I have to speak in public. Try holding your breath as long as you can and slowly exhale as you start speaking. I do this right before my opening to help calm myself and set the pace for my following sentences.
"Rome wasn't built in a day."

"If you don't have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over." John Wooden

I would just make light of the situation are actually progress from a normal speaking tone to a high pitched tone like this ...

but in seriousness, just try to relax and stay calm. No one is going to judge you severely.

    Happens all the time.

It helps when i have a smoke right before the presentation, taking long breaths and speaking slowly and confidently.

i look people in the eyes, if they look down or eye from me that is the motivation that tells me i am being assertive and alpha. if they look at me in the eyes and try to be dominant (this has never happened to me), i would probably look at another person.

Speak with authority. You know something the audience doesn't. You have all of the knowledge and the audience is there to learn. Teach them.

I hate drawing attention to myself or being the center of attention. I have social anxiety and it use to be a lot worse, but I noticed every time I was in a leadership/authoritative position at my last job, all of my anxiety and fear would disappear. There's something about delegating authority, making important decisions, and setting an example on how I feel others should act in those situations that makes me fearless.

I'm not 100% sure on what it is. It may be a control thing, such as being in control of the situation at hand or in charge of making critical decisions, even if the situation is chaotic. It's not control over other people that I desire though. I'm not interested in controlling or "dominating" other people. For some reason, I just have zero anxiety/fear when put into leadership positions.

If I know I'm about to give a speech, I can project myself into that role, and remove any fear or anxiety.
