Weight loss is a marathon, but for the next 30 days my life will be a complete sprint. I am going to see how far proper diet, supplementation, exercise, and rest will take me on my weight loss journey.
I am beginning the oxyELITE Pro/ Lean Extreme /REDuction Stack on 16 November 2010 and will be writing my progress here. This is my first real log here on this website.
The plan is to lose fat. Plain and simple. Gradually over the last 10 years I have gained 40 pounds. My immediate short term goal is to lose fat while building muscle. I would like to eventually drop to under 190.
Why am I fat? Dare I saw life crept up on me in my 30’s? The duties of marriage, fatherhood, work and furthering my own education placed blinders over my eyes about the most important thing I could possibly do for myself and family. That thing is to maintain my physical health and weight! I bare all the blame and the fault is completely mine.
About 2 months ago I started looking at how many calories I actually ate. I was one of the people that made excuses about metabolism and state “I don’t eat that much”. Once I started logging my actual calories, I understood that the reason why I was fat was that I was eating excessively too many calories. I decided to change my eating habits.
I have managed to drop 20 pounds over the last 2 months by switching to mostly raw foods diet and exercising. I love eating healthy and feel much more energetic cutting out all the processed crap that I used to eat. Once I started eating healthy food, I no longer craved the junk food that was a staple of my diet.

Age: 39
Weight: 229
Height: 6’1
Body Fat: 30 percent. This is a rough estimate. I need to realistically drop a few pounds more before I concentrate on the actual percentage. All I know is that I am fat, and it needs to change.
Diet: I am going to eat 1800 calories of a high protein, moderate carb diet. I do log my macros occasionally at fitday.com. I am not going to concern myself strictly with macros, other than reducing carbs.
My diet will consist of plenty of raw foods and lean protein. The emphasis at this point will be on ensuring that I eat under 1800 calories. I plan to drink over a gallon of water a day.
Exercise
Weights:
Monday: Chest and Triceps
Tuesday: Back and Biceps
Wednesday: Shoulders
Thursday: Legs and abs.
Pushups: I am currently doing the 100 Pushup challenge on hundredpushups.com. I am in week 3. I plan to continue the pushup plan throughout this 30 day period on Monday/Wednesday and Friday.
Cardio
I am going to do 60-90 minutes of cardio a day, 6 days a week.
Sleep: Hopefully with the help of REDuction pm I will get at least 8 hours of sleep a day.
Supplements
Taken as suggested:
Oxyelite: 2 caps upon waking - 1 caplet 6 hours later.
REDuction pm: 2 tablets 30 minutes before bedtime
Lean Extreme: 1 tablet upon waking. 1 Tablet 4 hours later and repeated again in another 4 hours.
Other items that I will be taking:
Fish Oil Caps: 2 a day
Glutamine: 30 minutes before workout
Multivitamin
Protein Powders: (My plan is to only use these as an occasional meal replacement)
Metabolic Drive Low Carb Chocolate
Zero Carb Isopure: Cookies & Cream, Pineapple Orange Banana.
Sleep: I am aiming for 8 hours a night and will keep a sleep diary next to my bed.
Weight: I will be logging my weight here every day along with my progress. I fully expect to see fluctuations on a daily basis due to water weight.

DAY 1 Starting Weight 229.0
The start of the 30 day SPRINT!
I would like to add that I am not a weightlifter. I am new to lifting weights. I am following the 4 Day Split on BB.com for my exercises. I used to be skinny fat, before I got FAT/FAT. I have only been lifting for 2 months. I should see some small gains. A friend recommended this website to me and I have been addicted to it! I found out over the last 2 months that I actually like lifting weights, and I am going to continue it. This is a good log for a beginner with a lot of desire to follow.
I woke up and took all meds as prescribed. I downed a Metabolic Drive and went to the GYM. I noticed that my RHR was raised about 30 over what it normally is.
I had a bunch of energy, feeling slightly nervous and on the edge. I did my weights. Usually in-between sets I will either stay on the machine or stand up. Every time today I paced. I got my weights done and I headed over to the elliptical machine. My heart rate when I got on the machine was already in the fat burning zone, which is 130bpm! I did 1 hour on the elliptial with an average heart rate of 158. I usually have a hard time going over 140bpm, but no problem today.
After an hour on the elliptical I walked for ½ hour. 3.5 elevation on 3.8 speed on the treadmill.
I don’t normally do 1 ½ hours of cardio, but I felt like I had to do it! I had too much energy inside of me.
I took a shower, ate, and went to work. After work I decided to walk for a awhile. I ended up walking 5.6 miles at a brisk pace.
I stopped because I was getting nervous about the amount of cardio I was doing.

Cliffs: Weights – Back and Bi’s
Elliptical: 1 hour average hr 160bpm
Treadmill: ½ hour 3.5 elevation 3.8 speed
Outdoors walk: 5.6 miles.
Diet: 1800 Calories – Turkey wraps, salad with tuna, fruit, nuts and protein shakes.
Total Aerobic time today: 3 hours.

I am going to sleep in a few minutes. I just took the 2 REDuction tablets.
I lost 20 pounds entering into this, and I haven’t had a cheat day in a while. Because I am eating very clean, I don’t foresee huge losses in the first few days like in some logs.
The supplements definitely helped provide energy today. Ultimately, the success of this 30 day program comes down to keeping myself motivated. If I can do for the next 29 days what I did today, I will see huge losses of fat. I think 3 hours of cardio excessive. I will be happy with 60 mins, 6 days a week.

I had an enormous amount of energy and I worked out for 4 hours. I don't intend to keep that pace up, but I had to do something with all of this energy.
I had restless energy. I felt like "I HAD TO" workout.
I am aiming for 8 hours of sleep going into day 3.

Hats off to you man it sucks when you finally realize your a fat ass cuz you eat like one...in late August I weighed in at 221 and finally saw a picture of myself and didn't believe it...now I'm floating in the 190s getting ready for a cut in xmas to hopefully get me sub 10% bf
You've really set yourself up for success. Something's you will probably expect to see...
A lot of weight loss really fast right away, I know you've been at it for a few months but your first thermogenic really helps shed water weight you didn't know you had. Well at least it did for me. I'm guessing you'll drop like 10lbs on this stuff if everything is in check. I already responded to this post, it went something like this.
Thanks for your support. I heard a speech recently and the speaker said "There are 2 kinds of men on this Earth, Men of Action and those who aren't"
I wondered to myself .. "am I a man of action"? I determined that I wasn't. If I was a man of action I would have done something about my weight instead of passively watching myself get obese.
I determined I was my own worst enemy! It wasn't genetics or metabolism or my bad back, IT WAS ME! I was 100% to blame! I decided to take accountabilty for my actions and do something about it.
I have felt self concious about my weight for years. I can't tell you how many times in social situations where I ordered a salad or didn't order dessert because I didn't want friends/coworkers to say "That is why that guy is fat, look at that **** he eats!"
It's amazing how much guilt is associated with being obese or gaining weight.
I hope to lose a bunch of weight over the next 30 days. The end date is

I am not sure why I gained a pound (of water) in a day?
I ate Tuna Fish yesterday along with some salty cashews and almonds (all within my 1800 calories), so maybe the salt made me retain water? Not sure. I am not going to let it discourage me. I have the day off so I am going to really kick it in today.
Edit: I did 1 hour on the elliptical and did a full body weight workout.
I tried to restrict my sodium intake today.
I also added some psyllium husk to my diet. I think that might have been the problem.
If I see another few days of stagnated scale weight I will post up my daily macros from fitday for some help.

I started taking psyllium husk on days 2,3 and 4. I read that those might make you retain water, so I am going to refrain from taking it for a few days.

Down a few pounds. I slept in today and received about 10 hours of sleep. I think that has something to do with the weight loss.
Since I totally skipped 224 and 225, I can't help but to think my weight may fluctuate again tomorrow.
I also stopped taking the physillium husks which may have been making me retain water.
My intent for today is to stay under 1800 calories, cardio and weight training.
Edit: I had one of the laziest workout of all time today. I did not have any energy. I noticed that the thermogenic stuff is still working because my heart rate was still increased when I checked it.
I took a few mins between reps when lifting. I actually got off of the elliptical machine 3 times and tried to quit, but I managed to get 60 mins in with a average heart rate of 149.
On day 4 when I went up in weight, it messed with my head! I tried not to let it, but it discouraged me. I think weighing everyday is absurd, but it's keeping me on track.Last edited by rothnroll; 11-21-2010 at 08:16 AM.

The last three days I have dropped .2 pounds a day. Weird! At least I am not gaining .2?!
I did 1 hour of cardio last night and lifted.
I did measure myself and I HAVE lost a few inches off the waist since I started this. I was shocked.

Hey dude, I read about your 10 day results, very impressive my friend.
Right now I am about 187-189 depending on the morning; trying to cut down to 170 for spring break this year. I just ordered this stack as well, going to be jumping on it at the end of the semester (December 7th) I'm interested to see if I have similar results to you.
My stats are:
5-10
187
18% body fat
Age 24-25 (turn 25 while on this stack)
I don't really have a set workout at the moment, usually my daily routine is 25 mins on the bike, 100 curls (15 pounds), 75 push ups, 75 crunches, 50 squats, 50 lunges. Not really trying to get "huge" just want to get toned.
Thanks for your work thus far on this stack, I'll report my results once I get going to. I think you may be on to something here though.

I was sick the last 2 days. I haven't done anything but lay in bed. Today, I feel great.
I am 1/2 way. I am going to go ahead and bust though the next weeks and workout as hard as I can.
