Spiking insulin post workout is optimal yes, however protein will spike and raise MPS (muscle protein synthesis) as well as carbs. The myth, you have to ingest carbs and protein immediately after a workout, is just that: a myth. You should strive to eat a meal at some point after an exercise bout and ingest at least 20g of protein. Otherwise, worry about the total composition of your diet.

20-40 grams of pure protein before bed worked for me in the past.

Studies have shown 40g to be better than 20g but 20g at a minimum after workout.
Carbs are not need as adam has said protein spikes insulin enough for MPS.
