    Pre-Workout vs. Fat Burning Supplements: Do I need both?

    So here's the jist of what I'm trying to do: I want to lose fat and build lean muscle. Typical scenario for an overweight person wanting to look good. Now, I'm taking whey/casein, multi-vitamins, and omega 3s but I haven't dabbled in pre-workout or fat burning supplements. I was considering doing one or the other (both if I come upon a wad of cash).

    The reason I'm thinking of doing one or the other is that I hear Fat Burners give you energy much like Pre-Workout supplements. Is the energy given by Fat Burners sufficient to improve my energy within my workout, ala what a Pre-Workout supplement would provide? Or do I have it all wrong and there is no contest that Pre-Workout supplements are way better when it comes to energy?

    As a note, yes I want to burn more fat but if I can get an increase in energy from a pre-workout supplement that can improve my results so that I, in turn, burn more fat anyways, I don't want to bother with the Fat Burners (hope that makes sense).

    In short, which would ultimately give me the results I'm looking for (one or the other): Fat Burners or Pre-Workout supplements? (OxyELITE Pro and Jack3d, respectively.)

    I take pre-workout as mainly an energy booster. Helps me get to the gym and puts me in the mindset to be there.

    Cant speak for weight loss supplements though.

    I've used fat burners as preworkout stims before when I was out of preworkout supps.

    Mainly your fat burner will be the stim portion of your preworkout, but you'll be missing other elements, such as simple carbs, aminos, and creatine.

    But if a stim is all you need, a fat burner will do nicely.

    By the way, I'd opt for a preworkout supp for taking preworkout, and avoid the fat burners altogether and instead focus that money/attention on food and anything that helps you with cardio (shoes/iPod/pool membership).

    For me personally if both has caffeine in it, I would only take one of them.
