    Lean muscle, definition

Hey guys just a little confused. I dont really have any build I am very skinny, my arms and body are very skinny so I am eating to gain weight (lots of protein and calories, low fat foods) but I have a very fast metbolism so I do not know how much the calories are going to help. I did quit smoking about a month ago so hopefully that helps. But my question is what exactly is lean muscle? Like The more and more I lift will my arms become "just muscular" or will they actually get bigger as well and some definition to it. Its pretty hard to explain what I am talking about but I figure some of you will know. I just don't want to be the "skinny muscular guy" if that makes sense.

Then you should either recomp or cut. Eat at maintainance, or eat at a defict. but keep fat in your diet, you need it more so than you need carbs.

Not eating fat has little to do with gaining fat. Fat is stored when you have a calorie surplus.

Fats for the most part are good for you and you definitely shouldn't shy away from them when trying to gain mass.

As far as your first question when people say lean muscle it just means muscle by itself

For example you could gain 20 lbs but only 10 of that might be muscle so you gained 20 lbs but only gained 10 lbs of lean mass or lean muscle.

I've gained like 22 lbs since I started lifting (very slow bulk over 1.5~ years) and my BF% has pretty much stayed the same so I've gained about 20lbs of lean muscle.

There is no lean muscle, there is muscle and there is fat, if you have a lot of muscle and little fat you look big and cut, if you have little muscle and little bodyfat you look like a crack addict.

NO!!!! lean muscle is a buzz word like "toning" (unless buying meat)

    fat=/=fat

your body needs fats (mostly unsaturated) to be healthy and build muscle, your cells (read muscles) cant grow without unsaturated fats.

Cliffs: You gun stay skinny brah

Don't buy into the broscience built into most people's heads by the media and the vast majority of gym goers who say fats make you fat. They are myths disproven by research. Read some of the articles here-

    http://www.alanaragon.com/articles.html

Fats, both saturated and unsaturated are important for bulking and cutting.

Thats about what i do everyday, which is ALOT more than what I used to eat so im sure I should see results from doing this.
That can't be more than 2000 calories. Not enough calories, not enough carbs and definitely not enough fat. Replace the fruits with oatmeal, bread, rice etc, add more olive oil to your food and eat peanut butter sandwiches as snacks. What is your height and weight?

5'11, 153 pounds. I just do not have the time to plan these perfect meals, and I have no idea how any of you do. I work...12 hours a day 6 days a week and I get home, go to the gym, prepare my meals for the next day and go to bed. It may not be enough by the "Calorie calculator" or any of that but Like I said its more than what I used to eat. I used to never eat breakfast, usually a sub from a convenience store and dinner and that was it for the day, so this is def an improvement so I think I should see results.

High metabolism has nothing to do with it, find out what YOUR maintenance calories are, and eat more than that.

The thing is you DON'T have to eat 6 meals a day. 6 meals a day increasing your body's metabolism is a myth. It's just been recommended by oldschool bodybuilders and nutritionists without any research supporting it for decades. It's not going to benefit you any more than eating 3 meals a day. All you need to do is get in the total calories for the day in. Technically, you can do it all in one meal (like the warrior diet which works well), but you will have to go through hunger pangs all day and feel bloated after the one meal.

Do what is convenient for you. I've been eating 3 large meals a day and one protein shake post workout and its worked well for me. That's it. Remember get your total calories in (with enough proteins, fats, carbs) and you will grow. Meal placement is not important.
