    Unhappy Obese to Bodybuilder?

    I'm always hearing about guys that have gone from being skinny to bodybuilder. Does anyone know of anybody that has gone frome obese to bodybuilder; and what steps did they take? Did they lose the excess fat first then build lean muscle or simultaneously? I'm kind of starting late. I am 43.

    This may motivate you. This pic is actually flattering believe it or not, but this is what happens after almost a year away from the gym and too many cheeseburgers. This is me at around 240 lbs in December, and the pic below that is 10 months later at 180 lbs. I actually went straight into caloric deficit when I got back into the gym and dieted for 10 months really. Muscle memory I guess.

    I wouldnt have guessed you had that much weight to lose! You obviously werent super lean, but in that pic you didnt look obese etc by any means!

    This thread got me to reminiscing about the past 1 yr 9 months of my life...I guess I wasn't obese, but according to BMI, I was. I weighed 237 in the before pic and 190 in the after....

    October 2009, 230lbs


    Clinically depressed, fat as hell, and fighting binge eating disorder.

    October 2010, 170lbs


    2 weeks - A much happier and healther person. Plus I'll be even happier and and healthier once this prep is over! Feels good man.

    Which explains all your awesome food threads Its like those who have a struggled with weight, depression, and especially binge eatting have a crazy obsession with food. Ironically enough thats how I deal with it. Not saying thats how you have but I know it helps me.

    I wasn't obese but I was definitely overweight.. I lost about 50lbs from March to October.. I was 2 weeks out in the october picture but decided not to compete because I wasn't lean enough for my standards.. :P
