The importance of volume for hypertrophy

Can some one explain why volume is important for muscle hypertrophy, for example if i did 300lb squats for 8 reps for 2 sets, why would 300lb squats with 10 reps w/ 4 sets be better for muscle size.

    More stress is more stress.

Body responds to muscular stresses by becoming stronger/larger.

because god made it that way

    but srs

with higher volume you're adding much more than just contractile tissue, you're adding glycogen and other things to help you get through more sets and reps
